Beautiful Ali

And a Great \"Medicine Plant\"

The young stem can be peeled and eaten raw or cooked, and so can the root. The young leaves can be harvested for use as a tea, and the fruitlike seeds can be eaten either raw or roasted. All part of the Thistle are rich in minerals. Traditionally, Native healers used the Thistle for weakened stomachs and digestive problems, reducing fevers, for expelling worms and for increasing the milk in nursing mothers. In older times the thistle was considered an all-purpose herb capable of curing most maladies known to man, particularly those of the brain. It was alleged to strengthen all of the internal organs of the body and to help cure all sorts od aches and pains. Some species of the thistle are called holy thistle or blessed thistle because od the healing qualities attributed to them.

Oh, I like thistles very much! They have quite beautiful flowers, of course, and they have qualities that make life interesting in certain situations - whenever a ball or a frisbee leaves the playing field and lands in a nearby conglomeration of thistles and stinging nettles, for instance ...

Yes, I've always found thistles beautiful, except when stepping on them while barefoot!

This is stunning Alicia! but, then again, i have Scottish Highlander blood in me! and i remember the Thistles in Scotland during my visits there while in the military! they were brought over here from Scotland. i discovered that during one of my visits over there from one of my Clansmen, he told me the legend. and finally, yes i do have Kilts!
