Description Another scene from Jane Eyre.

You just have to love Jane and Mr. Rochester, and this scene was quite scandalous for its day and age

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. Do I sense a reference to Interview with the Vampire in your name?

It's odd, but once I noticed the Bertha-fire, I could not look at anything else in the picture.

Is the fire smiling at me?

Yep. Well, maybe not smiling so much as cackling.

This was a present for my sister. She loves symbolism, so I made the fire screen look like a cage and superimposed a woman's (Bertha's) face on it. The message (moral? metaphor?) is that Bertha is an obstacle to the fire/Jane and Mr. Rochester's love. Heavy-handed, I know, but my sis seemed to like it.

Thanks so much for the comment!

That's great symbolism!! I like it too. The scene sets the ball rolling for their relationship, but there is still that obstacle. Really cool.

Loving your pen drawings always!!!! That fireplace is so artfully done, withthe thin lines, and the shadows of the ...grid(that thing that keeps the fireplace enclosed). Love love love.

Thanks Glad you like it the grid...screen...thing. It took a while to do, but was worth it in the end.
