There are other things I should be working on... but I was overcome by the urge to animate. I was never completely happy with my avatar, but after this new version, I find I'm still not happy with it. XD I think the wolf itself is animated to the best of my abilities, so critiques on the run cycle are greatly welcome! I know it's not perfect, but I don't know how to fix whats wrong.UpdateI've doubled the frame rate! But I forgot how many it has now... And I still can't decide between white or black.
A reference from an old youtube video I had saved was used, but I don't know to locate it again.

Some comments have already mentioned a few things I was going to. But I'll add one more:
This wolf doesn't seem to have any weight, so much so that it appears to be flying. It doesn't appear to ever land.
That aside, I really love the background - especially the lightning!

You need to smooth the animation - the transitions between key frames shouldn't look like separate photographed pictures of the run, but you have to make distortion and maybe even brake some limbs. XD
It's disgusting to draw, I know - but it makes a great illusion in the final. Look up basic tutorials on it. If I find a good example of what I'm talking about, I'll link it to you.
(Another suggestion: try elongations of the legs, like in these basic examples: colorfulanimationexpressions.b… , but make them small. It should give you the effect of fast paws.)

Man... I've been animating for years but I've never once actually tried squash an stretch. I generally thought of that only being used in cartoons and non-realistic animation. I'll have to give it a try for my next animation. It just seems so unrealistic to actually animate, but I guess if the outcome is better...

I know what you're talking about, and I had that same problem too. I read some books on animation, and then I started looking up the animations I like the most (I prefer realistic styles over simple cartoonish too) and then I noticed that the same thing applies there. The beauty of it is that you never notice it - it's really a well hidden illusion to the eye.
And don't feel bad about animating for years and never applying it - everyone that animates and that never went to any school or took courses that are paid for rarely figure it out themselves. To be honest, you already animate like a pro; you just need to work on the basics you're missing. (Sorry if I sounded all "high and mighty," XD I'm still a beginner myself, but I just witnessed to much absence of some common stuff among all self-thought artists (including myself).)
... My advice - try to find professional animations you like, like from a movie or something, and study frame by frame. You'll figure it out.
Maybe you could try Aaron Blaise... he animated a lot of stuff for Disney, but he's a realist at the core, so maybe you can learn a thing or two from him (even if his style isn't the same as yours).

Since you wished for a critique: The legs seem fine, but the movement of the overall wolf is very bumpy as if there is a spring involved. Wolves tend to run smoothly rather than springy such as a horse's canter/run. And the head moves back and forth too much again like a spring. I can't figure out exactly how to explain it except that a wolf's run seems more smooth rather than springy...
I hope none of this sounds offensive or completely wrong, because I certainly am tired, but I tried my best to critique honestly. So it's okay to say that you don't agree.

Now that you mention it, I am noticing a strange bump at the base of the tail... I'll fix that for sure. XD But as for an overall bumpy element, I can't say I see that. But that's why I asked for critiques! Because I can't see what my errors are. XD
As for the head, that motion is a personal preference.

This is a black wolf now! (I think this is better because a very white wolf in the dark is strange)
