Description Update: I've fixed everything that was bothering me which was quite a lot. XD The original can be seen here
 

Original Statement
I hope I get the markings right. DX My submission to yet another contest! Ondjage 's character bounding through the snow.   I think I could have done better, but I got frustrated. I can't seem to find the style I've been seeking for the past five years. Anyway, here it is.

I actually struggle with backgrounds too, but thank you!
I'm not sure what I could say for tips though other then references are invaluable. I've been meaning to make a tutorial on backgrounds, so when I do I'll be sure to get you a link to it.

Thanks!  I made those by sketching a line that would be the bottom of the lights, then used the Motion Blur tool to stretch it straight up and erased the parts the dropped below the line.  I'm not terribly happy with how they came out actually.
