Sokka, Katara and Aang, trying out a new look to suit new circumstances.Drawn while watching a marathon of Season Two of Avatar, this drawing is a result of my speculation regarding Season Three. It seems more than likely that the gaang will be spending a lot of time in the Fire Nation, and while it's all well and good for the Avatar and his two Water Tribe friends to be wandering around the Earth Kingdom I doubt that'll fly behind enemy borders. That, combined with rumors of "new haircuts for everyone" next season, has me thinking that the time has come for AANG TO GROW HAIR.
Also, he's holding the bison whistle because if there's one thing that stands out more than a 12-year-old airbender, it's a gigantic sky bison. I HOPE I AM WRONG ABOUT THIS because I love Appa dearly, but we'll see!

Though, I suppose it is a miracle that he was never seen....but they did most of their traveling at night or with cloud cover.

Um, I don't know if you got this already, but the hair that Sokka is sporting is a royal topknot...he wouldn't be allowed to wear it...I don't think anyways. Tell me if I'm wrong, because I probably am.
But if you haven't noticed (or compared with the dvd cover for season three that every one's raving about) it's all incredibly close. INCREDIBLY! Well done!

I've been lurking around your gallery for a few days now. It wasn't until recently that I got some time on my hands to prattle on about how great your work is. Not just the Avatar fanart, but your comic work, especially these recent pages, is wonderful.
After scratching my head over which deviation to comment on I settled on this one simply because of the emotion it stirred up in me. I love these kids... and suddenly the fact of them having to go further into the Fire Nation than they have before is very real. I'm honestly MORE anxious for the third season NOW than I was before I saw this deviation... if that's at all possible. 
They're expressions and body language are all very true to each character. I love Katara's worried eyes and Sokka's strength (goofy... but strength nonetheless). Aang struck me hardest of all. His scraggly hair, hiding his tattoos, chancing a glance at Appa's whistle... it all was like a cold slap to the face. Quite the wake-up call that it's almost over, y'know?
This is an awesome piece. You've made some fanart that gets the noodle goin, it's somethin to ponder over and I LOVE that. I'll be watchin ya!

Really awesome thought, this never would of ocured to me. Though I tihnk Sokka and Katara would be quite obvious in the Firenation (regardless of new clothes/haircuts), while Aang could probably sneak in, with grown out hair. Your version of a fullheaded -hair aang is so cute ^_^

You have some excellent pencil-work, though I imagined Katara keeping a couple of Azula-esque bangs just so she wouldn't be so far from her 'hair-loopies'...especially since after the season finale it looks like they'll be gone for good (cue much weeping and gnashing of the teeth, but change is good! It's the Book of Fire, after all...the most adaptable element of the four). I also imagined them being in much looser clothes, since it is going to be summer...even though that would make Aang's tattoos hard to hide. Still, those clothes you have them in do look a tad...bulky.

Yeah, I'll probably rework everything if I do another drawing....this one was originally meant more as a doodle than a finished piece. But then I worked on it for like, an hour, and decided maybe I should just color the thing and get it over with XD
