Description
A land divided, a heritage claimed,But an issue arose, in Israel's famed,
For daughters of Zelophehad, they came,
With a plea for justice, a just acclaim.
Their father died, without a son,
And so their claim, they thought was done,
But Moses sought the Lord's decree,
To settle the matter, impartially.
In Numbers Thirty-Six, the answer came,
A law decreed, a just refrain,
The daughters of Zelophehad could inherit,
Their father's portion, without a merit.
But a condition set, to preserve the land,
That they must marry within their clan,
To keep the inheritance intact,
And ensure the tribes remained intact.
A tale of justice, a story told,
Of women bold, who were strong and bold,
In Numbers Thirty-Six, their cause upheld,
Their rightful claim, by God compelled.
