Description Jack Frost took it hard, learning to be alone and all. The solitude wasn't the whole problem. After the first hundred years or so, he didn't even pine after physical interaction with his world's fellow occupants anymore. The worst part... the thing he still hadn't quite learned to accept, was how no one could see him. No one even knew he was there. This always kept the worst thoughts alive at the back of his skull: did he actually exist? If not, what was he? A ghost? A memory? Sometimes the uncertainly of everything was just too much to bear.

Remember that big coldspell, sometimes called the Little Ice Age? Yeah, it wasn't exactly one of his best moments. See, that was when he hit a low- a BIG low, and he was willing to do absolutely everything in his power to draw attention to himself at that point. His worst memory though, the one he still looks back on in shame, was when he first snapped. He had been drifting around one night when he spotted a small girl outside her home. She was staring in wonder at the sky, like she had never seen snow before (though it now littered the ground). He greeted her, knowing full well he would be disappointed by her lack of response. Sure enough, she continued to stare right through him.

Snap.

Something broke inside Jack. Maybe it was his heart, maybe his sanity. Whichever it was, he plummeted to the ground, grabbed the child by the shoulders and began screaming at the top of his lungs, eventually breaking down into sobs. "Why won't you look at me?!" He pleaded mercilessly. But, he had yet to learn that emotion is a powerful force. Neither figure had noticed the ice crawling across her small frame, intent on damaging the timid creature. It had just reached the girl's face when the winter spirit finally realized what was happening, making him jump away and flee in horror. Her life was spared, ultimately, but it was merely a precursor to what was to come from Jack's inner turmoil. It took him a whole two centuries to shape up and adopt his "cool cat" act, and another one to clean the place up and thaw everything out. It was that fateful day that had sculpted Jack. One minute more, and that innocent girl might have died. One minute more, and he would have ended up like Pitch,

Yet she had escaped with nothing more than a bad case of Frostbite.

Forgive the completely on-the-fly story, I'm sure it's riddled with issues, but I just wanted to get this out there finally.

I know the Little Ice age actually occurred around 1550, which would make him almost 500 years old instead, but I'm taking liberties here. Besides, maybe "Jack Frost" was created after the boy surfaced. If this were true, this two-hundred year gap would be when he was sorting himself out and figuring out who he was. Maybe the Man in the Moon gave him the gift of a name only after he had decided what kind of a spirit he wanted to be? I dunno. Just getting it out there that I know there is indeed a discrepancy here.

This is also not my usual style, as it was all done on one layer.

and it's my first time drawing open-mouthed expressions.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeh.

The little girl kind of makes me think of his little sister. Poor Jack, we don't get to see that much of the loneliness he went through in the movie but it must've been horrible. The scene kind of reminds me of how Elsa froze and nearly killed her sister because she got upset and used her ice powers on her.
