Art trade with the lovely FrogsForTeaShe asked me to draw my vision of Mother Nature, from William Joyce's 'Guardians of Childhood', or rather, from her amazing comics. It was hard T_T I confess I knew nothing about her (except that she's Pitch's daughter), so I did my research and found out that she is ...well, Pitch's daughter and that she has long, black hair, she is powerful and mysterious and not always kind. Like father, like daughter, I guess.
In my artwork, I made her sit on a cloud that mingles with her dress, and have a chat with the surprise guest, Man in the Moon (literally). Even I was surprised when he appeared. They must be discussing random stuff, because it must be tiring ''to look after squirrels and make the leaves fall all day long", as my little brother's put it. Hell, I would want to relax and unwind, then again, I always want to relax and unwind
I left the earthy green out when it came to her dress and went for some sort of turquoise, because to me, she is as unpredictable as the winds and clouds.
Watercolors, as usual, and a bit of tempera and acrylics, used like they shouldn't. I use all kinds of paint like they're watercolors. And liners.
I must say a big and warm Thank You, my dear FrogsForTea , working on this has been a real challenge and you know what? I had no reference photos, for the first time in my life. So, Thank You, again! Hope you like and hope I didn't disappoint you!

Oh my, oh my....! THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
This is going to be a difficult message to write...I'l try to keep the excitement down..!XD
OK, let's start with the character design. I absolutely love your MN!I don't know how but you managed to make her βagelessβ and there's something that reminds me of Pitch (without...you know giving her his nose or something obvious like that...XD). The dress merging in the clouds is beautiful both in the realization and the concept, giving her a truly spirit-like appearence. The flowing black hair with the flowers softly cascading are so masterfully done that I can't help but feel a bit of envy at your skillfulness (truth be told, not only the hair, but well...most of the picture..!Thankfully I really really like you as a person, so I'm not overwhelmed by envy, and rather feel proud of your artistic accomplishments!XD). I also really like all the deatils you put in MN design and I don't know if it's on purpose or not, but the necklace you drew really reminds me of Pitch's famous locket containing his daughter picture, and I've always liked to think that she should have one likewise....so that too I β¦ 
Hahaha the surprise guest...I love it when it happens, though I must admit that it looks so βright, in its rightful placeβ in this picture I almost find it hard to believe that you didn't plan to invite him from the beginning!XD I really love your portrayal of him...(more than the book's version too...!XD). His position in the moon is perfect (for some reason his left leg look particularly well drawn to me...I dunno why...maybe beacuse it makes me think that had I drawn it, I would have made it different and wrong....ok, basically you make me realize the mistakes I have yet to make...!XD)
The coloring of MiM too is amazing...he's truly golden, not yellow or something, gold!
There's not much to say about the sky. It's perfect (here, plain and simple!XD) especially the portion between MN and MiM, it...I dunno, (I'm sorry I generally hate this sort of comment...)but it looks like a picture!XD I can almost feel the texture of it!
Ok that said, to think that you made this for me truly blows me away...!! I can't tell you how much it flatters and fills me with joy the thought that I had even only a tiny part in inspiring this..! Truth be told if it wasn't for the description I'd hardly think there could be any relation to my drawings..XD (and how I wish my MN looked more like yours!!)
And I'm so glad this could be the occasion for you to venture in some uncharted territory, and you challenged yourself with it! (and really, if this is your first attempt without a reference pic I can only say that it was really about time, and I've some difficulties at keeping my envy down, thankfully it is contrasted by the utter admiration I've for your work!).
What can I say? Thank you so very much for this, I truly love it!! Just one thing, you made quite a mistake in posting it so soon, because, although I've already thought up yours, I yet have to draw it and after seeing your piece I think I'll have more than a bit of self-confidence issues...! Rest assured I'll put all the effort that I can to make the best for you..!

Now, before I go around squealing like the girl that I am... well, to hell with that OMG I'm so happy to finally get feedback from you!Β My god, the wait has been killing me! I kept thinking that you didn't like it and that maybe I went overboard with the notes and comments and even though I knew you were busy with exams, it kept nagging at me, the feeling that you wouldn't like it was almost unbearable. But man, am I happy now!
First, please no envy, I beg of you! If you only knew how hard it is for me to draw characters, it's like squeezing my brain for ideas and, even though I try to cover up my mistakes with nice backgrounds, they still look stiff and not so natural. A part of me is very glad you like what and how I do, not because of my ego flopping right down on cloud nine, but because I actually love the flowing motions of your characters and I wish to become just as good. And I'm happy this... friendship, if I may call it like that, is fruitful for both of us.
The locket was put there on the sole purpose of emphasizing the fact that she is Pitch's daughter. And because I like to think thatΒ she's trying to find a way to be with her father once more, just like in your comics (seriously, their background story gets me too emotional). So I figured, if Pitch had his locket, why wouldn't his daughter?
Like I said, MiM was a surprise. He just popped there, in the moon. I tried to make him all relaxed because it must be hard to be THE Guardian all the time. I'm actually kind of glad he's a bit blurry in this photo I've taken (don't own a scanner, nope sir) because he's kinda.. I don't know, off, comparing to MN. I hate my brain when it doesn't want to cooperate with me and let me do things right!
After giving me the challenge, I thought about it pretty long, came up with some ideas then did some research. I must confess, my fingers itched to make her dress a healthier shade of green, something that reminds of earth and life (kind of like your comics) and I also wanted to have her show a temper (like Pitch, like in your comics) but I failed quite miserably. Don't worry, I will probably make more fanart of your fanart and I'll get things straight.
Now it's time for thank yous 
Oh and please, no self confidence issues from you! or, you may have some, but NOT because of something I did. For you. That should release the tension, shouldn't it? And about the BlackIce ( oooh, I can't wait, I'm all giddy like a kid on Christmas XD ), remember that smooch thing that started the whole thing? Yeah, it can have a white background as long as it turns out at emotion-filled and you know, has Pitch and Jack in it. Don't rush, take your time, I will wait for as long as it takes.

awwww I knew it...I really like how you can be so subtle about it!!!(err talking about the locket here XD ) if I think of something like this, I'd probably go about it the tacky way...like..I dunno...dynamic lines coming out of it, or bright colors or...you know..TACKY!XD

YOU FAILED AT WHAT, PRAY TELL?? Sorry dear but I disagree...the dress is, nt only beautiful in itself, but the cloudy quality of it perfectly fits the situation, not too mention that apparently MN herself is sort of constantly changing, * becoming* clouds, trees and so on, so it's only right to have the dress adapt, and green and clouds wouldn't have been as fitting...(then if this can be a good excuse to see another drawing of MN from you...I'll just shut my mouth immediately!!XD) oh, I think she has a temper alright here!! (withouth being bipolar-like in my comic...!XD)
No need to thank me, AT.ALL. If anything can I say I'm truly glad I met you, and that I've the feeling this friendship will be good for us both artistically and personally speaking? Your art really intrigues me and I can't wait to see more of it! You use so many differnt style and techinques, I know I'm going to bother you to no end, nagging you with my questions, and I'll study your work to learn from it!
Haha, I know the feeling...! well...I think what matters the most is actually what *WE* think of our works...if we don't like it, no amount of praise will make us change our mind, I'm afraid!XD But trust me when I tell you I truly loved it!!

When I first saw your arts, I thought you must be in some art college. Turns out you're not and I must say Wow, girl you've got talent! It took me years of practice and work and banging my head against walls and searching tutorials to get the basic anatomy right. Sort of.
I went to an art highschool, for 3 years actually. It's not as fancy as it seems. It just gave me a pretext to draw some more (my mom doesn't believe that anyone can make a living out of art, therefore doesn't quite agree with me drawing all the time, says it isn't work). Plus, I took architecture classes which I later realized I didn't like and so, when I applied for college, I chose graphics. And I got in! That means three more years of studying art. Hope it turns out well. I really want to become a digital artist.
I learned from the internet (seriously, I learned more from random strangers on the net than I did in school) that when you take pictures of your drawings, you must make sure you use the daylight and that your drawing stands vertically. Fix eventual flaws digitally and there you have it!
Whenever you feel like asking me something do so, and if it's in my knowledge, I will answer as well as I can. Don't worry that you'll disturb me or stuff like that, I'm grateful that we've met! I'm browsing the internet for almost 7 years now and I've never met anyone as nice as you.

(tell you the truth I was a bit puzzled at the shortness of your comment...!
Hehe well...I 'm self thought but as you said, you often learn more from the internet
and random things than at school (then again, I drew a lot in high school...durint math classes,
latin classes, geography classes....XD) and well...all my spare time!XD
I tried to learn anatomy (because I really loved it) and a bit of evertying,
but certain things that didn't intrigue me I admit I seriously overlooked (perspective
and backgrounds being my biggest enemies XD) but my biggest problem is that
I didn't show anyone my work, (because family and friend just flatter you
with no good outcome) and strangers...well...I was afraid I guess...XD
So for me the biggest fear to overcome was that (and the year of academy and
well the random classes I took during the summer) helped me a bit...still
get as nervous as hell when I see someone staring at me WHILE drawing...
Aw well...it's true it's a difficult competitive business, and all the story
we hear talk about struggles to live off your art work, but it's not impossible,
just difficult, and what's the fun of pursuing an easy dream?
(plus, I'm realizing my mistake now...[in my oooold aaaage XD] that it is pointless
doing something you don't like and don't care about...)
SO you have my utter support and respect (for what it's worth!XD) for your choice!!
Β Now you've left for college and I'm sure you'll make the most out of it!
(hope you can manage to plublish some of your academical works!I'd love to see them!
