thank you John !!!

wow, you grow palm trees !!! how cool is that !!!
I'm looking to grow one in my courtyard (in a pot since I don't have a garden) and I was thinking may be I should stick to the Kentia Palms...

Well since you know about palm trees, if you have any insight that could help me to choose the proper palm, I would be really grateful ... if you don't mind of course

I live in the South of France so it's very hot and dry in summer, mild winter with little rain...

hey cool, the kentia is the best looking palm tree well for temperate area's like ours anyway.
yes great choice......... but very very slow growing & large ones are expensive.
others that would be great are the trachycarpus palm, cotton palm, date palm, or even pigmy dates look cool................ cocas or queen palm, geez there are lots to choose from

Those are really fantastic, thanks for taking the time to answer me about this

That gives me a lot of options and i am quite excited to build a little garden from scratch !

I'll have a closer look at all of those, I definitely will check out the nurseries in Spain on my oncoming trip (trees are way cheaper in Spain than in France, so you can get a bigger one for the price of a little one and I live only 1h away from the nearest spanish town!)

I might need a bigger car though to transport my new trees from there
I think I'm gonna get some cacti as well...

Anyway I wanted to say thanks John for your help

hey no worries at all, let me know how you go!!!
say do you guys have the "bird of paradise plant" over there? [link] it produces these huge flower spikes, and the plant is very hardy, great for pots and dry conditions......
check out the flowers of these online, amazing

I will keep you posted of course now I just need to be patient and wait for fall before I can actually start my garden (way too hot right now!)
Anyway, I've seen some beautiful "Oiseau de paradis" around here, I love those beautiful colorful flowers !!!
thank you for giving me the name, now I will be able to ask for it at the nursery
