I wonder if we were in the same field that day?
My little white flower has a darker green background, though [link]
In comparing the two, I'd almost think there was a white balance setting difference. Can't imagine how changing from TIFF to JPEG would have done that though.
In my exif for this picture over on smugmug [link] I see that I used auto white balance and sRGB color space. I didn't use raw for this one so the jpeg is all I have. Just curious, did you shot raw and convert to TIFF from there? The camera I did this with does have a native TIFF mode, but I was not able to see that it helped much.

I love the effect! And I'd be interested to see what was lost. I'm with the other - what about other formats, like PNG? I've never seen loss of color - detail yes, but color? Hmmm... Was it depth that was lost (color depth) or something else? Does it look more washed out this time?
Anyway, it looks great, and if you get a chance to post one with more color, it'd be interesting to see the difference. You have us all wondering now!

the colors were a bit richer until i uploaded it to DA. i tried to go back to scratch and use different formats but..it was a definate glitch.
overall, im still fond of the way things turned out.
and i appreciate your kind words.

The background is beautiful - couple that with the smooth cyan tones that you've worked into the piece and you have a very soft feeling that runs throughout. This is wonderful!

i love the focus too. great shot.
maybe if you convert to srgb when you save as a jpeg it might preserve the colour better?
