Description I worked so hard on his.  It took me three days!  I wanted to keep it simple, stylized, and sweet. (But what looks simple is reaaaally far from actually being simple for me)
Snape is hands down my favorite character from Harry Potter.  These gosh darn kids just never appreciated him and it breaks my heart.  He protects them, but never seeks thanks, and never receives any.  He never gets the hug that he deserves.  Favorite to give this legend a hug.  ;;

I can't say that I love him, but he is a great, complex character.  Awesome picture!

Some people don't go in for hugs. I think Severus would rather have some good old-fashioned respect, without the touchy-feelies. But of course he never gets either respect or hugs.

My poor Snape! I love him, too. He's the only character in the series with a positive moral arc. And he's just generally cool.

Okay, yeah, Snape doesn't seem like much of a hugger- but even so... ;_;

His arc is beautifullllll

I became a fan of Severus in a very interesting way... I can't remember how it exactly started, but I think I had been talking with someone about the series before looking into it. I had never had much interest in the series, never read any of the books or watched any of the movies (still haven't). But then Severus caught my attention. I read up on him on Wikipedia and looked through a lot of pictures and drawings of him and couldn't help falling in love with his complex nature. He strikes me as a man that has been hardened by his past and struggles with that termoil as he lives his life at Hogwarts as a professor. I see kindness deep within him that is rarely visable to many people. The part that makes me laugh is how I became a fan of Severus without know practically anything about the series.

I had spotted your drawing in my notifications from a group I'm in but deleted the notification before really looking at it. I'm really glad I went searching for your remarkable drawing. The style you used to draw the characters feels unique. The way you drew their faces conveys how they are feeling very well. The dark background adds more to me feeling that they is definitely danger standing before them. It is just incredible.

Snape is a really strong character, I can attest to that. He's made out to be a bad guy right to the end, but his goodness always comes through in discreet ways, which is why he really captures me. I understand what you mean about how you like him without reading or watching the series, because he really is that kind of interesting in his looks and his portrayals in most art pieces, and of course, in his backstory. He's dark and mysterious but ultimately spectacular.

I'm really glad you like it! Expressions are my favorite things, so your comment is really warming. And I've never been great at backgrounds, so thank you very much!! :3

Indeed. He is the type of character that just captures your attention and draws you to them.

You're welcome! I have a hard time with backgrounds myself, mainly because I don't do many of them... Lack of practice does that to you. That and proportions... I always have a hard time with them.. Well, nearly always. Plus face structures as well. I have a hard time getting faces to look right when they are at an angle. You are obviously not the only artist to struggle with drawing things. I honestly find it great (sometimes annoying) that I have these issues, because they are somethings I can work on to get better at doing.

Ugh, proportions are always a drag- but really satisfying to get right(or even thereabouts).  Faces are pretty complex, and angles can definitely be a challenge, I agree; I find children especially difficult.  It's really great to think of struggles in that light; that they're things for you to work on and improve on.  That's a very positive standing. c:

Very true. Getting them at least close is really good. I haven't explored the age range with my drawings much, so can't really say. And thank you. What you just said actually reminded me of a saying I came up with based on my mental health struggles. Which is "It is only suffering if you let it be." I'm implying that you don't have to let your struggles and pain control you and destroy you and that you can take control and win against all the odds that are stacked up against you.

He was definitely my favorite, too, when first reading the books.  By the third of fourth book, I had him figured out, so I happily appreciated his character that much earlier in the series.
