Description

A new reference for Anathema!

Name: Anathema "Ana"

Gender: Female
Age: Young adult
Talent: Has the ability to remove memories from the minds of willing, sleeping, or unconscious targets (not herself). Whatever is erased becomes part of her mind.
Taken?: Not yet!
Cutie Mark Vector: Memory Cloud
Appearance: Short haired, silvery coat. Light blue, four-colored hair that starts straight but ends in curls. Typical unicorn tail and curved horn, but lacks cloven hooves. Rather lightweighted, even for a unicorn. Eyes have a purple and light-pink hue. Mane and tail are well-groomed and shimmer nicely.

 Backstory:
Childhood: Had a rough past, mother died while giving birth, father couldn't bear to raise Ana on his own. Was handed into the care of her father's sister.
School Life: Visited school, barely made friends. Came to be known as a quiet but surprisingly benevolent filly.
Graduation: Lost focus on school due to depression. Dropped out without her classmates ever taking notice.
Adult Life: Lives with her aunt, doesn't know what to do with herself. Would seek therapy if she had the funds to do so.

Anathema's cruel name was a gift from the father who abandoned her when she needed him most. She was born in Ponyville and raised by her strange yet loving aunt, Astra, who did her best to provide her with a normal childhood. Ana always knew she was adopted, but never knew the reason behind her parents' disappearance. She asked Astra for answers, but her only advice was that the past didn't matter, it was the present she should concern herself with. Ana took that to heart of course,
but it never satisfied her innate wish to understand why she wasn't loved.

When school came around, Ana was a beacon of curiosity. Once she learned how to read and write, she scoured books and libraries for more knowledge, especially when it came to Astrology, Astronomy, myths and ancient magic. She believed in fairytales and legends, found great interest in spiritual and esoteric thinking. The world seemed so much more exciting and less grim when taken with a grain of salt. Those new hobbies were the only thing numbing her ever-growing desire to understand why she was abandoned. She spent so much time in books and fictional worlds that she seldom found time to socialize with other ponies. She was well-liked by her classmates for her quiet yet friendly nature, though Ana couldn't say she had an actual friend who'd spend time with her outside of school.

During her teenage years, Anathema started to change. Her view of the world became more pessimistic, she believed it only sought to punish and break her. Getting up in the morning began feeling like defying existence's ill will against her, like choosing to let life make her suffer even more. So sometimes, she simply didn't bother. Ana began to miss out on school. At first, she started coming late. Then she missed entire days. Weeks. At last, she dropped out completely. Astra could do little to change Ana's ways, as she felt like it wasn't within her right to force her back into school when she's already tired enough trying to battle her demons. Therapy was too expensive, thus Astra decided to do what any good mother would do: take things into her own hand. She consulted books and wise ponies to see if there was a way to help Anathema on her own.

In the end, it was better than nothing. It took a long time, but now, Ana is doing better than before. She leaves her room again, pursues knowledge and seeks a purpose.
Considering what lengths this young mare will go to acquire said knowledge, she might've been better off suffering in bed.

Cutie Mark: A short trail of clouds symbolizing memories.
Personality:  Very humble and polite, doesn't need much to be happy. Has a friendly approach to strangers, but prefers the company of familiar faces. Loves to speak and show affection, close friends should watch out for surprise hugs! Needs to remember that personal space is a thing to other ponies. Likes to keep to herself when it comes to her problems and past, sometimes straight-up avoiding those topics when possible. Can rely on herself very well. Periodically falls into depressive episodes, thinks too much about things she cannot change, still grief-ridden from the loss of her parents, dead-set on finding out what sense lies in the cruelty of life
 Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
