I kind of don't like the idea of a completely evil doppelganger of Batman, rather a wicked but misguided version, similar to Lord Batman from the Justice Lords universe in the DCAU. So this picture interests me; an "evil" version of Bruce, caring for the boy his other self considered his son.

I adored this idea and hope to see more of this Owlman and Nightwing fanart as well. I almost died after hearing Owlman wants to make Nightwing his "brother." Out of all the Robin, Dick Grayson is the most popular and the most loyal to Batman. Slade, Owlman, the Court of Owls, Lincoln March, Mother (Batman and Robin Eternal), Spyral, Raptor and etc. all made attempts to steal Grayson's loyalty from Batman, but could not do it. Even Ra's al Ghul made a pass at Nightwing after he defeated the immortal terrorist at swordplay (Nightwing #152). There is also a rumor that the Star Sapphires attempted to recruit Dick Grayson and have a permanent spot reserved for him, but I don't know if that is true or not. I have been trying to see where Earth-3 Owlman's story picks up. Last we see is him having some sort of deal with Lex Luthor before disappearing. I want to know if he intends to follow through on his threatening promise to Grayson. Can anyone tell me?????

Oh, that a new and interesting one. I never heard of that version.
I think I read somewhere that Thomas Wayne Jr. is the older brother of Bruce Wayne in Owlman's dimension. But Bruce Wayne was killed.
I know in the New 52 version Thomas Wayne was "killed" and Bruce became the Batman we all know. So the story is switched.
So I think they are two different people with different stories because of alternate dimension stuff.
I'm not too sure what is true though. There are lots of versions out there.

Actually, I researched it and I believe I made a mistake. Bruce does in fact have a brother named Thomas Wayne Jr, who has his own story where he was taken into the Court of Owls or something in the Prime Earth, and in Earth 3, it's Bruce and the parents dying (because of him and Alfred) and then he becomes Owlman.

Well, I wasn't exactly around during Sonic's first 7 years of existence... but somehow my very first experience with Sonic was the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. (My elementary school showed the episodes in the auditorium on rainy days).
Then, years later, I get the games Sonic Heroes and Sonic Mega Collection +, and I've watched Sonic X and I met a friend who somehow got me to become a big Sonic fan.
And... that's about it, I guess. Sonic is like, my number one franchise. Yeah, I have other interests such as DC, Marvel, or Kingdom Hearts, but it always goes back to Sonic.

It's not really "old", it's just been around for a long time.
"Old" would be something like something that hasn't had anything new for a long time. The Sonic Franchise is still running with the Sonic Team games, Sonic Boom games and cartoon, and the Archie comics. And all the merchandise.

That's true. I guess I consider it old because I haven't stayed up to date on Sonic related stuff.
It seems to be still running strong after all these years. I'm just not aware of it.

somehow, it feels that DC LOVES to torture Dick and make him look vulnerable. it'd be a lie though if I said that I mind it. he is very cute when injured. but sometimes, I think he needs a hug or two. not just a punch or two..
great drawing. you have awesome talent.

Love the pic. I don't know if this will really happen but it's fueling my fan theories like you wouldn't believe. Now, I know Owlman's partner was "Talon" way before the 52's but do you think the dead Dick was a Talon as in Court of Owl's Talon? Seeing how the Joker killed him got me thinking. The Joker in Earth 3 is suppose to be a "good guy" so hacking someone up into 6 pieces seems a bit extreme for someone who thinks there's been "too much death"
However if Earth 3's Dick was a "Court" Talon than he could regenerate. So hacking him up might be the only way to make sure he stayed dead. That's just a theory I had floating around in my head. Tomorrow the new Justice League #25 is suppose to come out and we "might" find out what he really wants Dick for. It's gonna be a tease I know but even a hint is better than nothing. What do you think?

AlphaLunatic In reply to ShagonsHeart [2013-12-11 06:50:45 +0000 UTC]
I think they will talk about that in Justice League #25.
I think Joker just hacked Talon up to be dramatic. His world kinda sucks after all and has a lot of pent up anger. If Earth-3 Talon had regenerative abilities, Owlman would have just put Dick back together to regenerate.
Haha, I think...the Court of Owls Talons and Earth-3 Talon are different. I do not think in earth-3 they can regenerate. The history is similar in that Talons work for Owls, but I think in Earth-3 Owlman never thought to get regenerative abilities. I think Earth-3 Owlman respects death and life because in his world the weak should die and the strong should live, and regeneration will greatly disrupt that. He won't be able to prove that he is stronger than others if all of them have regenerative abilities...uhm...I guess what I'm saying is just being able to die...and surviving in a harsh environment is a great proof of strength and power over the weak. It's the best way to show who's in charge.
I am reminded of a line in the New 52 Wonder Woman...where a God tells Diana that he admires mortals. It's not exact but he says something like..."you mortals get to live..while we are just here...existing."
In the Court of Owls, the leaders do not get regenerative abilities so they can live to their fullest in their lifespan...they survive while others die, and this is how they get power. Those that get the regentaive abilities (the Talons) are just tools. In other words...the talons simply exist to be used. One you stop putting time on life...eventually they might have nothing to actually live for...friends and family would die, or why eat at all if you can't die from stravation? why even work if you don't need to provided for yourself or others? I think...Earth-3 Owlman doesn't really consider his Talons are just tools to be used. He might be evil, but still cares for his partners. You have to realize...that immortality can be a punishment...and I don't think Earth-3 Owlman would do that.
For the most part, I consider them separate stories, and just that the Owls and Talons manifested in different ways in different worlds. I rather not mix the two together.

Oh haha, it's my fan..prediction? I guess it's the best word to put it.
I can tell you don't read the comics then. I guess you only watch DC shows?
Anyways, currently in the DC comics, there is a big event called Forever Evil (written by Geoff Johns), where an evil version of the Justice League came from another dimension to take over the world.
Yes, I'm serious. Evil clones of the Justice League members (kinda, actually they are a bit different with different histories). Anyways, Owlman, the evil version of Batman, kidnapped Nightwing early on in the invasion. The comic is still ongoing, so we don't really know what he wants to do, but we do know why.
In Owlman's dimension his partner (his version of Nightwing), who was called Talon died very violently (in a way, it was Owlman's fault, but we don't know for sure). He was so sad that when he found out there was another Dick Grayson in another world, he kidnapped him. He seems to want Nightwing to join him and his evil Justice League.
So currently, Nightwing is tied up in a place surrounded by evil versions of super strong superheroes (like Ultraman=superman, Superwoman=wonderwoman, Power Ring=green latern) and the only reason he is alive is because Owlman, who is also very evil, has sentimental memories of his dead partner. It's a bad situation to be in for Nightwing. Oh and they did something really bad to Nightwing too...*cough* I'll let you find out for yourself.
It's a really good comic so far and am greatly enjoying it. In Forever Evil lots of heroes are missing, so the DC villans have to rise up against this new evil. It has a lot of role reversal and is lots of fun. Also, it highlights some relationships and shines spotlights on interesting characters that you might have not paid attention to before. I recommend you read it or at least wait for the trade to come out months after it ends so you can read the whole thing. However, the comic arc is only like halfway done.

Ugg... you got me there.
I´m a big fan, but since a few years, because of work and study i haven´t been able to floow Batman the way I would like too. Besides, I love Batman (and the Bat-family, especially Dick I LOVE DICK (My name is prove enough) the other super heroes... gehh... like them and that´s it.
The last comic I read was Injustice, God Among Us, but so far, I havent saw MANY things!!
Now, about Owlman and Cía, I remmember a movie called Crisis in Two Earths. There´s where I met all the evil super villians, but never imaginated it was a full comic still going (now I recall that i should have guesed that, cause it was pretty obvious, but well, maybe I´m stupid)
I really liked what you described to me, SOUNDS AMAZING!! And I REALLY want to read it. Unlockily, rigth now I´m at school so, I can´t start searching rigth now XDDD
Also, I really like the description you are making about Owlman necesity to have Dick back, that touched me deeply. Appears that in any universe, Bruce will ALWAYS need Dick. (Red Rain comic proves that XDD)
Will definetelly search for this comic, and I don´t know... would it bother you if when I read this I look for you so I have someone to chat about this comic?
I mean.. if is not a problem...
As I said before... or maybe I didn´t say it, your picture looks amazing Owlman looks really protective with Dick, and Dick looks so fragile I can´t barely believe it.
THANK YOU so much for answering,HAVE A NICE DAY!!

Yep, I´m veeeery behind, you now?
I read Batman when I can, and enjoy it PLENTY, but never in a regular basis, neither in the correct time line. I have been working in get to my self the Batman´s time line, and so far, I have plenty of material... what I don´t have is time to read it ¬¬
Anyway, I love him cause he is my best childhood memory, and everything I read about the Batfamily (DICK GRAYSON!!!) makes me happy.
I´m going to find those new comics of 52, I´ve heard of them every five seconds, but never tried to find them, since I´m reading the timeline I mentioned before.
As for your picture, is completely amazing the fact that you ike to draw predictions from comics, I´m sure it´s amazing to be as talented as you are.
Glad to talk anytime you want!! Aaaand by the way and taking advantage of you (XDDD) I have some knowledge but I become CRAZY cause I dont have no one to listen my nonsense, and even when somebody hear me, they have no idea what I´m talking about, that makes me sad, cause I start jumping and screaming, but no ones do it with me.... (Specially with the fact that I love Bruce and Dick together, also love them as father and son, buut many people * MY DAD* looks at me like if I were crazy when I dare to speak about that XDDD)
Soooo, if you want to talk about your teories, and what do you think behind the scenes, or the future, or ANYTHING, I´m here, and would be absolutelly happy to hear/read you. n____n

Awesome work, not just on this but on you’re entire portfolio. You really did capture the look worriedness but also concern in Dick’s eyes, you have some real talent there.
I’m very eager to see how Forever Evil ends, but from the look of things in the future its not looking too good for Dick.

Faved it earlier, now I'm commenting on it due to awesomeness. XDXDXD
Nightwing's major role was what kept me glued to Forever Evil, especially after reading through Owlman's (close?) relationship with Talon!Dick and the revelation presented at the end of Secret Society #1. Though it's too early to tell if Owlman's purpose in keeping Nightwing alive was the belief in second chances, I'm hoping to see the picture above happen in the actual arc. ^^
Love the art <3<3<3
