Description Just another fractal nebula which I created to satisfy my need to draw shining stars.
The title came with the melody I was listening to - "Remembering the Light" - [link]
It really takes you to an other space and time.

like kire said about the planet integration, there's a white pixelated line outlining the planet and it's moon in the back. While you have light casted on the planets from the main light source keep in mind that you have mutiple stars in the Nebula and that shadows aren't going to be very prevalent.

Thank you for the comment.
I saw your gallery by the way. Maybe you should follow your advices for your space artworks too.

Looks great.
Was wondering how to combine fractal stuff to a 3d scene and I have my answer now.

The nebula could use some work, but it looks great overall

Thanks for entering in my contest on
I really appreciate, and good luck winning!
I really like the nebula btw!
And it's different than most so it's more original

For everybody who had a problem with my planet lightning - it is corrected.

Awesome! I really like the nebula.

The only problem I really have with this is the planet lighting. It should not cover further than from pole to pole.

But other than that specific detail--which it seems a lot of people neglect--this is a great piece!

Gorgeous and very inspiring! Do you by some chance have a tutorial on how such breath taking space scenery can be made?

Thank you!
Unfortunately I don't have a tutorial but I tried to explain above how I make the fractals. I've read 2 or 3 tutorials about fractal nebulas, but none of them explained how to manipulate the transformations in order to get a nice shape. I've found my own way and I think it works.

awesome- did you do the whole thing in apophysis or a bunch of little bits, then you combined them?

AlphaSpace In reply to TPextonPhotography [2010-02-19 10:37:28 +0000 UTC]

It's a whole fractal - I explained above how I did it. My previous nebula is a whole fractal too - [link] . I just duplicate the transformations.

how did u make the nebulas?

AlphaSpace In reply to Robotrob44 [2010-02-19 10:26:32 +0000 UTC]

I play a lot with the transformations in Apophysis. I duplicate, rotate, scale and move the triangles until I get similar shapes beside the original one. This nebula is a single fractal and I think it's easier to make it in this way, instead of combining several fractals.
Also the gradient is very important - it gives the depth and the real look of a nebula. I always choose a gradient with colours from one tonality (only blue or only red and etc.) and they must have very dark and very light variations. Using gradients with quite different colours in it for a nebula is not a good idea, I think.
I hope this information was useful to you.

I think the neb looks amazing, just the planet integration could be slightly better. Good work.
