Description
We used to live in FearOf beings much
Mightier, Wiser
Than we were.
We used to live in
Violent, Savage times--
With Monsters and Madmen.
And things, well,
They had to change,
Didn't they?
We tried to Be the
Heroes we looked up to.
To Be the
Good in the world--
The shining light of dawn
Over the dark sky.
We tried to do what
We believed was our
RIGHT. Our undeniable
FUTURE.
We tried to woo
The fair maidens,
Be the Brave Knights,
The Noble Kings in the castle.
And we worked, sweated,
Toiled, slaved.
We banded together,
Created stone fortresses.
And we became the
Lord of our Land
The Masters of the Seas
The Kings of the Castles.
But the world still
Ran wild with madness.
And we still lived
in FEAR, SUSPICION.
We were in no way
Able to contend
With our world
As we knew it.
And so we placed the world in
Simple, easy terms:
If there was good in the world
There must also be Evil.
So we
Killed
The
Dragons
And
Burned the
Horns
off Unicorns
We
Banished
The Monsters,
Spirits, Ghosts
We
Pulled
The Wings
Off Fairies
We
Drowned
All the
Mermaids
We
Found the
Witches and
Werewolves
And
We
Watched
Them
Burn
And all
Was well
With the
World.
And all
The children
Slept well
At night.
And there
Were no widows
No orphans
No hungry beggars.
And we
Did not
live
In Fear
And all
Was well
And all
Was right.
