The Mauritius Dodo1 (Raphus cucullatus) is a species of birds of the order Columbiformes,endemic to Mauritius, extinct since the 16th century. It is better known under the name of dodo,
a vernacular name also used to designate the Solitaire de Bourbon, although this one belongs to another order.
