Description The first big piece of 2004, and it's GREEN!!! never worked with green on this scale before so it's something new for me.. this is *nightmare-flavoured- 's doing since she suggested i do a green one . I was originally working on "stolen from God" as the base render for this but i couldn't make the sky transition work so i re-rendered at a different angle and used a different atmosphere. I was still tempted to add a human figure on the grassy hills to the right but decided against it.

But yeah, this is my first really big job using my new wacom tablet and with the nebula, the results are noticeable. The nebula was originally worked on outside on my laptop in a separate .psd and i was staring at the sky using clouds as references... it took sometime, and i got cold but it turned out nicely... I've managed to get the contrast better this time too. I've tried not to go overboard with the stars and planets, just some refining of the style i've adopted.... since this piece is more space than planet, then let's just say it's more science fiction. Since i'm now part of the spaceartists group i might use this as the submission for the pack.

So stats...

Terragen pre render = 2 hours
Terragen render = 1hour
Terragen post render = 1hour (all terragen worked on pre-holiday).
Photoshop time = 14 hours (over about 3 days)
Original canvas size = 3000*4500
.psd size = 211mb
Layers = 94 (nebula only used 4 layers this time... rather than a butt load :\)
Tools = Terragen, Wacom Tablet, Photoshop6

So yeah, that's it, enjoy the image... Comments and fav's make alyn happy, and don't forget to FULL VIEW else ye shall be smited.

Thanking ye muchly.

its very nice I've looked it up and down sideways and forward lol to me its just a bit too much green I love the sky esp the neubla, the terrain is well layed out and the over all effect looks so soft makes me want to lay down on the area in the lower right and gaze out into the sky

You're getting better and better at this ! I especially like how smooth the mountains and river look. They were a bit pixelated on the edges in your recent pieces iirc. Truly some amazing work. !

I saw you left a comment on ~Greippi 's page with a link to one of your work and I thought it was going to be some crappy thing Sorry, anyways this is really awesome Props to your for the green color, you didn't go with the usual blue people go with, really love the stars, and the clouds look great Great job

I really like the top though terragen part makes the picture looks rather... amature. Terrain looks like it's made of plastic Maybe work a bit more with terragen and see if you can come op with something that looks a bit more realistic.

Great picture overall!!

Great work here, i love the spacescape here. but i agree with versatil i don't think the render and the scape fit together. Nice use of green, but the river doesn't look so good.

Nice, but just using a picture of clouds is taking the easy way to make that nebula effect.

please check the description, i didn't use a picture of clouds, i referenced them (drew them whilst looking at them) using my new wacom tablet.

Still looks like a cloud layer to me, I've used them on one post just to see how easy it is.

I can tell you did becaues of the grainyness in the clouds from the digital camera picture

alyn In reply to steve-o-mac [2004-01-05 15:41:05 +0000 UTC]

.... sorry but i promise you that no digital camera was used in this image whatsoever. i can't really explain the graininess other than the enlarging involved when i upsized the original nebula .psd, or the smudging, but i haven't used a camera in this at all... it's almost annoying to have to re-iterate this.

I'm just not convinced that you use the Wacom Tablet to make those clouds, sure looks like a digital picture to me.

Hrmm... I like the top 3/4. The terrain just way too simulated, and the river looks like a sheet of green fog. Cosmo work is quite nice.

right.. well.. its good and all..

mountains look kinda fake, but i guess u cant ask for much from a 3d quick 3d program.. i agree with the river comments above..

one question though

how is this related to mysticism to u? how did u get to the title?

answer that and it might be better..

You people are amazing to the point where I don't know whether to cry are go into euphoria over the picture again. Absolutely stunning. It blows my mind that you can do things like this all on a computer.

And I like the color scheme a lot. Makes me think...Irish. Not because it's green, just the whole image. Just beautiful.
