Description This lizard was being a pain to photograph. I had to play hide-and-seek with it for something like an hour just to get a few shots.
This is a beautiful Spiny Whorltail Lizard (Stenocercus crassicaudatus) photographed in Machu Picchu. These animals are terrestrial, day-active and rock-dwelling. They are mainly encountered in pastureland, non-tree plantations, savannah or other open environments, usually on the Eastern Slope of the Andes (cloud forest).
