Description A female Zebra Finch (Taeniopygia guttata). These are the most common finches in Central Australia and are widespread across their grassland regions, being present also in several parts of Asia. They have been introduced to some parts of the Americas.
Conservation status: Least concern.
Wildlife Sydney Zoo, Sydney, Australia.

Ohh, what a gorgeous little lady! I feel like a really sad bird fanatic in having to admit I never realised how grey exactly female Zebra finches were, thought this was some colour mutation at first... whoops. They're such a pretty bird species though, and I love that bright red bill both sexes share. Amazing job done on the photo! With such a tiny little subject it's a miracle to a) get close b) get it sharp and c) also take a nice picture. You succeeded on all three
