Powers: Flight using astral insect wings and has an empathic connection and control over bees, wasps and hornets.

Golden Age Origin
"Vince Harley is a crime fiction writer looking for information on the perfect crime plot because his stories have gotten stale. While at home, relaxing and tending to his bees, Harley is surprised by a woman who appears at his door exhausted and collapses. When he gets her to his couch she tells him that her name is Judy Graves and that she is being chased, before falling unconscious. While she is out cold Vince searches for clues about her and finds valuable jewels in her pocket book. Tired himself, he falls asleep in a chair and awakens to gangster Jake Mallon asking him the whereabouts of the girl.

Feigning ignorance, he is roughed up by Mallon's thugs and knocked out. Mallon and his thugs decide to kill Vince by letting his bees sting him to death, they pour the bugs onto his body and leave. Judy comes out of hiding from a closet and watches amazed as the bugs do no harm to Vince but return to their apiary. It turns out "he is one of those rare people that bees don’t sting". Inspired by his ordeal Vince dons a costume similar to a yellow jacket and goes to confront Mallon and his men, sending Judy to the police. At the gangsters hideout Yellowjacket defeats the criminals and escapes as Judy brings the authorities to apprehend the mobsters. "

A character whose name is used by both Marvel & DC. Marvel's Yellowjacket being both Hank Pym in the comics and Darren Cross from the Antman movie. And DC used the original Charlton Yellowjacket, as a veteran of the Vietnam War, who was fatally shot by his own child by accident, the kid thinking that Vince was a burglar when in reality Vince went through the window of his house because he forgot his house keys. Not exactly a grand sendoff like other heroes, but tragic none the less.

Well since the hero name of Yellowjacket is used by both companies, I went with the alternate name Jack Vespa. Also for part of his origin, I thought it would be better if Vince was actually blessed by the Greek God of Bees, Aristaeus. Or maybe gaining his powers from the Greek nymph, Melissa, who discovered and taught the use of honey and from whom bees were believed to have received their name. Not just have Vince be "one of those rare people that bees don’t sting" mostly that sounds like the creators just hand-waved it to me.

Also, Jack Vespa is the regular PDRU version of Red Bee , as both were blessed by their world's god/goddess of bees. And this maybe a bit off topic, but their was this superstition called Bugonia that if you have a carcass lying around, a new swarm of bees will come out of it with honey inside the body. Maybe that can be a superpower for an earlier Bee-based character I did, Wasp Woman .
