A few days later, on Angel Island………

Knuckles is currently patrolling Marble Garden before he saw a scene in front of him that pissed him off, which is the Babylon Rogues trying to steal two ancient statue relics from their resting places.

“The BABYLON ROGUES!? I knew I saw something fly overhead earlier!” growled Knuckles as he charge toward the Babylon Rogues.

“Oh GREAT! Storm, sic him!” said Jet, giving an order to Storm.

“With pleasure, boss!” said Storm with a smirk on his face as he cracked his hands together in preparation to fight and stop Knuckles.

Both Knuckles and Storm charge toward each other with Knuckles punching Storm away first before flying up but Storm swiftly recover, grab hold of Knuckles left leg before swinging then throwing and slamming Knuckles hard against a rocky wall before leaving him there and rejoin Jet and Wave.

“Nice form!” said Wave approvingly at Storm.

“Tch! He ain’t so tough!” scoffed Storm.

Knuckles growled in anger as he pull himself away from the dent in the wall, flew down and chase after them only to unable to catch up to the speed of their Extreme Gear boards and he stop and watched the Babylon Rogues leave with his ancient relics with an angry look on his face.

A few hours later, inside the Chaotix Detective Agency building in Seaside City………..

“And so, you were unable to catch up to them and they got away with some of your relics.” said Isamu as she wrote what Knuckles told her, Sigmund, Vector, Espio and Charmy on her notebook.

“That’s right. I have no idea how to find and track them down. So……… I’m gonna need your help.” said Knuckles with a nod of his head.

“I like that story! Super exciting! NEEEEEEOWW!” said Charmy as he flew around above them in excitement.

“How did they even know about those relics?” said Knuckles as he think about it.

“The Babylon Rogues are professional thieves and specialize in ancient artifacts. Your island is full of stuffs like that so it make sense they’d try to rob you.” said Vector.

“Why not anything else? There’re more precious treasures on my island.” Said Knuckles, confused.

“Perhaps they thought those particular relics would be less guarded? Or perhaps they have a buyer with specific tastes?” said Espio.

“Those are possible theories.” said Sigmund.

“I’ll call Akira and Amy and get them to help too! You said she and Akira brought you the missing relics so I’m sure they’ll want to help you get them back.” said Charmy as he pick up the phone and started calling Akira and Amy.

“NO! WE CAN’T TELL THEM!” yell Knuckles as he shake his head while breaking the phone with his right fist to stop Charmy from calling Akira and Amy.

“KNUCKLES!” snap Isamu as she scowled at Knuckles for breaking one of their phones and refusing to have Akira and Amy helping them.

“Is maintaining your warrior pride that important?” sighed Espio in disappointment at Knuckles.

“Yes!” snap Knuckles as he scowled at Espio.

“Humph. Some stubborn men and their annoying warrior prides………” thought Isamu in annoyance in her mind at Knuckles.

“Enough chitchat. You all know our motto, boys and girl: “We never turn down work that pays”. So, let’s close this case in record time!” said Vector as he pick up, open and flip through some pages on his notebook before he stop at one page that had “Dinner at Vanilla’s place tonight” written on it before Vector swiftly close and put his notebook down before he, Espio, Charmy, Isamu, Sigmund and Knuckles turn and left the building to find the Babylon Rogues and take back Knuckles stolen relics.

“Let ‘em have it, boys and girl! We’ll get his attention in no time!” said Vector, giving his order to his team and Knuckles to fight and take down the badniks that come at them and he, Espio, Charmy and Knuckles fight and take down many badniks but when Isamu’s going to help them, Sigmund put his hand on her right shoulder to stop her.

“Huh? Why are you stopping me and why aren’t you helping out?” asked Isamu in confusion at Sigmund.

“I don’t because my instinct’s telling me that Eggman might not be the one who hired and told the Babylon Rogues to steal Knuckles relics this time. Trust me, Isa.” replied Sigmund.

“……… Alright, fine.” said Isamu as she and Sigmund stay back and watched and soon they, Vector, Espio, Charmy and Knuckles saw something flying fast toward them from the sky, saw that it’s Nitro Akira before he landed on the ground in front of them.

“YOU INTRUDERS.” said Nitro Akira in annoyance at them before light shine out of his eyes and turn into an almost life-like hologram figure of Doctor Eggman.

“WHAT ARE YOU RUDE BARBARIANS DOING!? Sonic and the others already ruined all of my recent plans! I haven’t had time to come up with new schemes! SO WHAT MORE DO YOU ALL WANT!?” growled Eggman angrily at them.

“I want my relics back.” demanded Knuckles as he glared at the hologram figure of Eggman.

“WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? WHAT RELICS!?” snap Eggman in confusion at Knuckles.

“You can’t trick me, Eggman! Vector figured out you hired and told the Babylon Rogues to steal them back!” said Knuckles angrily at Eggman.

“Out of all these buffoons, I thought YOU were supposed to be the smart one!” said Eggman as he glared at Vector.

“L-Look, I’m on a tight deadline here and you’re USUALLY at fault, so………” stammer Vector as he start sweating nervously a little.

“See? I knew it.” whisper Sigmund smugly to Isamu.

“Fine. You’re right about him not the one who hired and told the Babylon Rogues to steal the relics from Knuckles island.” sighed Isamu.

“Ugh……… I take whatever I want whenever I want. I don’t personally keep track of every little things I procure in my conquests! I have my robots catalog and manage it all!” said Eggman as he glared back at Knuckles.

“The one relic was found in Eggperial City. I KNOW you took it.” said Knuckles.

“FINE. But then why would I make the effort to hire the Babylon Rogues when I could just send my robots? Did this relic have any special value? Any arcane or mystic power?” asked Eggman in irritation at Knuckles.

“……… It has historic and sentimental value?” said Knuckles as he look away from Eggman.

“Oh, for the love of……… I don’t know about it. I don’t care about it! NOW GET OUT OF MY BASE, YOU MORONS!” snap Eggman angrily at them before Eggman’s hologram figure fizzle out and vanish.

“YOU ALL HEARD HIM, LEAVE.” said Nitro Akira coldly at them.

“Okay, so we make a mistake but I’m strong enough to admit it to your boss, Nitro Akira.” said Knuckles coldly at Nitro Akira as he, Vector, Espio, Charmy, Isamu and Sigmund left Eggman’s base and went back to Seaside City.

“Whatta embarrassment………” said Vector with an embarrassed look on his face for accusing and blaming the wrong person of stealing Knuckles relics.

“I’ll say, what’s done is done. Now FOCUS! Who took my stuffs?” demanded Knuckles as he raised and slam his right fist on the table, which make their drinks rattled and nearly fall down.

“The list of suspects is short. Maybe Clutch is looking to sell them off?” said Vector with a pondering look on his face.

“Clutch? Who’s that?” asked Knuckles in confusion at Vector.

“A criminal and a con-mobian. Me and my pals managed to stop and ruin his fun back in Central City……… but we lose his trail and haven’t seen or heard a peep about him since. If he DID switch from peddling egg-tech to illegal artifacts, he’s kept it on the down-low. I wouldn’t know where to start looking for him.” replied Vector.

“Why does everything have to be so complicated!? We should be able to find the bad guys, smash’em and be done with it!” growled Knuckles as he raised and slam his hand down on the table again.

“WE GOT A LEAD! WE GOT A LEAD!” yell Charmy as he suddenly flew toward both Vector and Knuckles.

“We’ve learned where the Babylon Rogues will be making handoff of the goods.” said Espio as he also suddenly appear out of thin air in a swirl of leaves in front of Vector and Knuckles, which surprise Vector and make Knuckles fall backward from it.

“I TOLD you to quit surprising me like that! And where’s Siggy and Isamu?” snap Vector in annoyance at Espio before he ask him where Sigmund and Isamu are.

“And I told YOU to turn down your headphones and mind your surroundings. And Sigmund and Isamu decide to went back and stay in Chaotix building." said Espio in a deadpan tone of voice to Vector.

“I heard some sketchy-looking guys gossiping! I pointed it out to Espio!” said Charmy with a smirk on his face.

“Yes. It was all very……… convenient.” said Espio slightly hesitantly to them.

“It’s the only lead we have. I’m gonna follow it.” said Knuckles as he stood up from his seat, turn and left and Vector, Espio and Charmy swiftly follow him and an hour later, Knuckles and the Chaotix found the Babylon Rogues standing or sitting at the dock and waiting for someone to come for the two relics that they took from Marble Garden Zone on Angel Island and they get themselves ready to get the relics back.
