Description Tribute to Nokt.  Almost titled it, "Howling at the Moon", because of what her rider, Talon is doing...

I love how you draw the silken tails, it shows the flow of the movement really well, and you totally should have called it that

Couldn't resist having Talon howling.   Though it's sort of a small drawing of him, but can still see what he's doing.  I really need to make a character sheet of her, front and back.  Her chest markings are actually a stylized owl face, with a full moon in the center of it's forehead (Wiccan/Goddess symbols), with stylized "rib bone" markings.  And she does have simple "bone/vertebra" markings down her spine.   I put some thought into this "witch" bird's markings, because she is special in more ways then one.  And I didn't want her to look like anything out there, be her own being.  She's not evil though, more like a victim of circumstance.  And taking advantage of it.

Why is your traditional colours so vibrant and awesome!
I really love the pose. The lighting and colours used are almost dreamy. :3

I use blenders (pencils and alcohol markers) like a mad.   That's the secret with colored pencil, is the blenders and elbow grease.  Don't be afraid to rub and hard.  LOL  It's really amazing how it makes the colors so vibrant.  I also do test swatches to see how things blend and what colors work with what.  I'm trying to show that not all traditional art, is bad art.

It looks amazing.
I used to only do traditional, but was not happy with my colour pencil skills.  I decided to try digital, which I do like in places. But I miss a good pen on paper sketching.

I'll have to look into those. Any brands you recommend? (or tutorial videos I could watch?)

I use Prismacolor color pencils and those blenders and the same brand for alcohol marker blenders.  And buy a lot of them because if you use them like I do, you go through a lot.  The only problem I have with the Prismacolor pencils is some colors tend to break when you sharpen them.  It sometimes seems like half my time is spent in sharping pencils.
I was taught how to use them in art school and on my own experimenting, it's been years since I have used them, and just getting back into it.  I need more practice to be honest, or different paper... I'm always hardest on myself.
