This is absolutely superb. Fantastic cropping and amazing subject. The black paint and the contrasting white of the face work so brilliantly together, really letting the cold blue of the eyes shine out. A very simple theme but executed extremely well.

My only criticism is that the photography isn't as pin sharp as it could be which is unfortunate as an image of this quality really requires spot on focus. I'm drawn to the eyes in particular in this image and that is the point where I feel it's lacking clarity.

At this point I'm unsure whether the image is really out of focus (obviously by only a tiny bit) or just that it suffers from the JPG compression affecting it. But as my rating will show, this is an extremely good piece of work so don't be discouraged!

ah, it's good to know its only the JPG that's affecting it, that means you can rectify it I'd hate for a shot as good as that to be ruined. This would also be a great print!

Glad I can help, but you're doing really great all on your own, keep at it!

I looked at the whole set of photo that this one is part of, and this photo is most definitely my favourite. It feels very strong and confrontational even though the primary emotion expressed is fear. It makes me think of when an animal is scared it is more likely to attack, if that makes sense.

The slight bluish tint in the highlights works beautifully with the gloopy oily blackness (LOVE that gloop) and adds a wonderful blue colour to the whites of the eyes. The extreme paleness of the skin makes it feel like a black and white image in colour - all the focus on texture, shape and form.

I think this particular shot would benefit from the hand print on the right hand side ending further down the face, beneath the eye. I do know this is part of a set though, so I get that each image should be viewed in the context of a whole.
