Dragonfly No 28

This is a one of a kind, handmade mechanical Dragonfly made from the recycled parts of old watches.
His wings are made from recycled DVDs that have been hand cut into wing shapes and etched with a razor. The wings are attached with a two part eopxy to a balance wheel affixed to the thorax.
His legs were created with many different watch winding stems that have been cut into various sizes and soldered at the leg joints using silver bearing solder.
His body is made from a number of watch balance wheels, gears, watch strap springs, and watch plates soldered together with lead-free silver-bearing solder.
His head is a cut, sanded and shaped watch dial to which is soldered two identical winding stem knobs for eyes.
He alights on a recycled brass rod base that has been curved and soldered.
This is a one of a kind work of art, never to be exactly reproduced.
His dimension are 63mm wide, 55mm front to back, 93mm tall. He is extremely fragile and should be handled sparingly and very gently, and is most definitely not a toy.
