Marsali, the pure blood selkie priestess of Mara and the Lady of the Lost Name makes an appearance in human form here with Byron, her kelpie guardian before his human form was locked away from him. Shown in her old age here Byron has already been locked into age stasis with the directive to help her find her sealskin again from wherever the family of her human husband hid it to free her. The fur cape she is pictured with is the same color as her hair was in her youth as well as her lost skin. This "need" of hers to assuage her soul pain (as it hurts to have the skin stolen, but not if it is willingly offered) is the start of the Makay half-selkie line's tendency to use fur capes before and after attempts to earn their own skins. The moment here is one of the few they are able to steal alone without the husband she is captive to, and this is no long before her spirit would have been transferred into the painting Byron prepared for her eventual death to give them more time to find her skin (or its remains).
