Description = Production Picture =

This is the armour for the character Sigmund from the game Infinite Undiscovery.
I have been working on it for the past month and a half so here is what I have done so far.

The primary materials are plastic sheets and foam.
I made a mock out of cardboard first. Then drew it onto one piece of big plastic and cut out all the shapes. The plastic was shaped with heat, then I made the details with strips of foam that I cut from a foam mat.
To paint the armour, I sealed the surface with PVA glue, undercoated with black, dry brushed a couple of layers of silver, then added a layer of cream colour, then finished off with black weathering.

Less than two weeks remain until Madman Nationals preliminaries. Oh god...

Oh my gosh...1) it's amazing of you to share this technique and the creation through photos...and 2) the head-desk photo is flawless. A perfect depiction of what making costumes do to us all.

This is AWESOME!!!
Love the detail
(also, if you don't mind my asking, what kind of plastic did you use to make the base armor? Did you use a heat gun to shape it?)

Thank you

(I don't mind at all)
It's PVC plastic. But really, any plastic works.
Normal people would use a heat gun for this. But I don't have one so I actually use my stove... haha

So what is this plastic you used and heat to bend it to make it round process? I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to make my suit of armour looking at what other people did. Amazing work!

AmenoKitarou In reply to FugeOni [2013-06-19 04:41:47 +0000 UTC]

Well, for this armour I haven't used any clay. the details are foam strips cut from a mat.
The armour is attached together with Velcro really...

like what is the effect of it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AmenoKitarou In reply to metalguppy [2013-04-12 15:15:15 +0000 UTC]

His armour changes colour in every picture. Sometimes it is silver, some times it is cream colour... so I wanted mine to have both colours, so I painted a layer of cream colour after I have painted silver.
Now my armour changes colour in different lighting.
