It's awesome! The hair looks fine as ever and you shade so well with all these simple strokes.
I'm amazed how effortlessly (at least that's how it looks) you capture his likeness even when you work quickly.

It wasn't such a quick sketch in the end, if I remember correctly... because I kept of going back and tweaking off and on
I think I prefer sketches. The bare portrayal of a subject lets your imagination fill in the blanks and it seems more real... well, at least that's how I see it

Yeah, often sketches look so much better than all "finished" pictures.
Even so, I usually have that urge to clean everything up. Which means ruining a lot of my sketches.

this one looks like a traditional work, so don't worry about it! I actually wish I can one day make a pen sketch looking like this

I like the traditional look too... most artist do, I think.. but my non-artists friends like the 'realistic finish' of my digital paints... when I'm thinking, photography is artwork too.. and it makes me feel like I'm just I'm copying, which of course I am.. but.. I don't to copy, like really copy.. aaahhh.. you get what I mean.. I hope...

I really admire and like the fact RuroKen is so important for you that is has accompained you throughout your life 
As for copying, that's always a bit of an issue and some years back I remember I got really caught up with it. It is copying, but it's also not. Your not creating something entirely out of your head, but it's also a personal work, it's not like it's just picking an image and drawing on top of it and say you made it, it's not that at all. Seeing, studying, looking at the small details, portraying, finding proportions and perspectives, that's what's really there. Yes there's a photo reference and the drawing is of that image, but it's not exactly copying

heheh.. sheepishrubsbackofneck... since I normally paint, anything not painted is considered sketch.. I'd call it pen... but its digital.. so it'll just stay sketch for now..Β

LOl don't know myself actually >.< wel for me it means there a lot of "helping" lines that needs to be erased before finishing the whole drawing. I don't see lines that don't belong to the finished work, that's why I think it's not a sketch
