Description
The EFS Spartan served as the pathfinder vessel for the new Spartan-class cruisers being produced midway through the Unification Wars. The Spartan, as its name suggests, was built as a dedicated war machine. The shortcomings prevalent in the Augustus were addressed and vastly improved upon to the point that the Spartans were designated the "new pocket battleship" of the era.

It suffered from a marginal decrease in speed and maneuverability given its greater mass and emphasis on raw firepower. Though a Spartan could not out maneuver a Luna it could definitely out gun one. By the end of the Unification Wars, the Earth Federation had lost only three Spartans out of the estimated 30 that were already serving in the fleet.
