I was really pretty intimidated when I got Usb-dongle! I mean, she’s like, the admin of a pretty up-there ask blog. Freaky stuff.

And geez no clue whatsoever to do with the pose early on. Which, really, is probably a problem most of us had with this thing, so I can’t really complain.

And can I just remind everyone that i love love love lineart and doing lineart to bits? And Wheatley’s hair here was just perfection and omg yes.

About the background—Faith plates are hard and gliff so many flat areas to shade and stuff. It’s just painted there, no lineart or anything, because I for some reason cannot lineart backgrounds at all. Or I just forget to and default to painting them. There was some nifty grayscale underpainting+colored overlay layer stuff going on there that I’m not sure I’ll keep as part of my paint routine, and if I’d decided to keep working on this, I probably would have merged the color and grayscale layers and touched up bits (like the panels in the back). Never done underpainting like this before, so that was cool.

In my original sketch, his left leg (to our left; his right leg) was actually in front of him. I didn’t notice that that doesn’t make any logical sense in terms of actually stepping on the faith plate until after I’d done the lineart. And this lineart. Yum. I’d like you to look at the hand on the left. So proud of that hand. Also his nose. I’ve already mentioned his hair but swishy curly lines are by far my favorite to do.

As for the shading, there’s not quite so much to say. Airbrush—>marker tool&eraser. Minimal blending and texture and whatnot, nothing very impressive. And if you don’t already know, the ability to draw in transparency is a precious precious thing. I have bgcolor/fgcolor swap set to X, and color/transparency swap set to SHFT+X and it’s just the most fantastic thing.

Gliff I could go on for ages and ages about drawing things and art programs.

Thank you! You'd probably like to know that that's exactly what I did, and still am doing three years later.

This is wonderful. You are wonderful. The detail and shading and the REALISM OF THE BACKGROUND HOLY GLIFF and it's just so good. I love it so much.
