Description
The two hedgehogs stared at each other soulfully without saying a word. Amy smiled brightly. Then her stomach started to churn. She started to feel incredibly sick, like she was going to vomit. She put her hand over her mouth and started to run.

“Amy where are you going?”

“I’m sorry, Sonic! I don’t feel well!”

She ran into her apartment and shut the door. Her nausea subsided, but she felt a sudden chill in the air.

“Great!” She whispered. “What’s wrong with me now?”

She jumped onto her Sonic bed and grabbed her Sonic doll. She raised it up in the light. But it wasn’t a Sonic doll, it was a Shadow doll!

“What the hell?” Amy shouted.

She threw the doll against the wall. When she took a second glance at it, she saw that it was a Sonic doll. Her mind had been playing tricks on her again…

“I just need some sleep…” She sighed. She put her head onto her pillow and fell asleep.

The next morning she still had a bit of nausea and didn’t feel quite herself. She decided to go to the Chao Garden to try and clear her mind. She saw little Cloud drawing on the floor, humming cheerfully. Shade was swimming in the shallow water joyously, enjoying his newfound skills.

“Hi, Cloud.” She said as she walked over to the Chao.

“Chao!” Cloud called out. He stopped drawing and looked up.

She looked over at Shade who continued swimming. “So, how is Shade doing?” She asked, a bit depressed.

“Chao!” He gave an enthusiastic hand up.

“That’s good…” She sighed.

Finally, Cloud picked up on Amy’s unhappiness. “Chao?” He asked, in concerned manner.

“Oh, I’m fine… A little confused I guess.”

She walked over to the shallow and dunked her feet in as she sat down. Cloud followed her.
“Yesterday was amazing…” She began. “I spent the whole day with Sonic. And I even got to kiss him!” She started to frown. “But I started to feel guilty. I don’t know why. Then I felt incredibly sick and had to leave… Something must be wrong with me.”

“Chao!” (What about that other hedgehog? The one who hatched Shade?)

“Who, Shadow? What would he-”

Immediately her mind flashed to when she was with Shadow. When she ran away.

“No… It couldn’t be. I can’t have. Sonic is the only one! The only one for me!”

“Chao?” (What are you talking about?)

“Cloud, what if-” She bit her lip. “What if I’m falling in love with Shadow?”

“Chao?” (What?)

“I mean, everything that’s happened to me… It all makes sense now. The queasiness and the guiltiness… it all falls into place. But, I love Sonic too! Can that even be possible?”

The chao shrugged.

“Well… If it WAS possible,” She began. “Who would I chose? Who would be right for me?”

“Chao!” (Sonic, of course!)

“You think, Cloud? I mean I thought Sonic was the only one for me. But when he yelled at me that… I don’t know. He’s apologize for it and we’ve been paling around now more than we ever have. So I guess-”

“Chao!” (Hold on a second!) Shade popped out of the water and shook himself dry.

“Oh hi, Shade.” Amy waved to the little black chao.

“Chao!” (Cloud, you idiot! What are you talking about? Sonic doesn’t care! He just feels guilty. Anyways, Shadow is the right choice. He’s the best guy out there!)

Cloud grumbled angrily. “Chao!” (What are you talking about? You’re just saying that because Shadow is your owner!)

“Wait Cloud,” Amy stated as she stopped him. “He’s got a point. When I was upset, Shadow was there for me. He’s never hurt me before. He’s always there for me when I needed him.”

She began to think of all the fun she had with Shadow. And then she fought of Sonic. All those years of chasing. All that dedication. Was it worth it? And was Shade right? Was Sonic only hanging out with her out of guilt?

“It’s so confusing…” She sighed.

“Chao!” (Look what you did, dufus!) Cloud yelled at the black chao. “Chao!” (You made her confused her!)

“Chao?” (Oh, and I’m to blame?) Shade responded.

“Chao!” (Let me think… YES!)

“Chao!” (You want to take this outside?) Shade growled back violently.

“Chao.” (I would, but we’re not allowed outside!)

“Chao…” (Oh yeah…)

The Chao were so involved in their argument they didn’t realize Amy was leaving.

“See you later guys. I’ve got to find Shadow!”

“Chao!” (Ha! I win!) Shade laughed in the face of Cloud.

“CHAO!” (THAT’S IT!) Cloud pushed Shade back into the water. He laughed in triumph as he saw Shade trying to crawl onto dry land.

But when Shade reached dry land he pulled Cloud in under. “Chao!” (Take that!)

Their little fight became so inappropriate, I cannot not explain anymore for reasons of cursing and chao violence.

Amy ran out the door in search of Shadow. It was an early sundown today and it began to get dark, which made it harder to search for a black hedgehog. She ran around looking in random spots until she bumped into someone. When she turned to see who it was, she realized it was indeed Shadow.

“Hey Amy. You okay?”

“There you are Shadow! I’ve been looking for you!” She said as she hugged him impulsively. It took her a few seconds to realize the awkward movement. She quickly released her grip and blushed. “Uh, Sorry.”

“Um, that’s okay…” He sounded a little confused. “Did you need something?”

“If it’s not too much to ask,” She began. “I mean if you don’t have anything to do- Would you mind taking a walk with me? I kind of wanted to talk.”

“Sure. As long as you’re not afraid of the dark.” He laughed.

“Don’t worry I’m not.”

They began to walk together into the dark.

“So, what did you want to talk about?” Shadow asked.

“Uh, well…” She fiddled with her fingers. “I wanted to- Apologize for before.”

“What, back there? Don’t worry about it.”

“I’m just- Confused. There’s a lot of stuff on me right now. And lately, I haven’t been feeling well.”

“Sorry to hear that. Well, what are you confused about?”

“Well it’s just that- I’m a little confused about-” She couldn’t spit the words out. “Um, I’m sorry. I just can’t tell you. At least not yet.”

“Well if you ever want to tell me, let me know.”

“Thanks.”

“I’m glad that’s all that it was. I thought you were mad at me or something.”

He didn’t hear a response. Only a muffled cry. He turned around to realized that a figured at put his hands on Amy’s mouth and was about to kidnap her.

“Amy! Let her go creep!”

The figure laughed. “Tell you what kid. You let me take the girl without a fight, we might let you live.”

It was then Shadow realized that he was surrounded by dark hedgehog shaped figures who didn’t look friendly.

“Crap.”
