“AHHHHH!!!!” Amy screamed as the wind blew her up higher and higher. She gripped onto Sonic as tight as she could and squeezed her eyes shut.

“Uh…” Sonic tried to hide the redness on his face. He tried to shake away his embarrassment. “Don’t worry I’ve done this a million times! There’s no need worry, it’s- uh…” Sonic noticed Amy’s dress was starting to pull up revealing her panties. “Uh…uh…”

Amy opened her eyes and peered up at Sonic. “Sonic! What’s wrong? Your nose is bleeding…”

“Oh no, it’s nothing! Just the excitement is all… Heh, heh…” He realized that if he said something, he would probably get a hammer to the head for looking down there. And well…

Amy took a deep sigh as soon as her boots touched solid ground. She flattened out her dress and looked at Sonic.

“How do you do that every time? I thought I was going to die!” She exclaimed.

“You know me! I love thrills! And the wind blowing through my quills… Flying fast in the air… You know, adventure!”

“Right, how could I forget? What a stupid question to ask…” She laughed. She noticed Sonic still had blood running down his nose. “Oh, you’re still bleeding…” She reached into one of the secret compartments of her dress and leaned towards him.

She got so close that Sonic could feel her breath. He began to blush as she wiped the blood from his nose.

“There!” She said happily as she leaned away. “All done!”

Sonic nervously chuckled. “Thanks…”

“Wow!” She gasped as she twirled around. “It’s so beautiful up here… Everything is green and lush… I can’t believe I’ve never been up here before.”

“It’s kind of cool, isn’t it? Tails and I used to race here all the time. Ha, he could never beat me.”

“Well you are the fastest thing alive. Or so I’ve been told…” She teased.

Sonic laughed. “What are you trying to say? That I’m not the fastest thing alive?”

“Well… Maybe… Or maybe I’m saying something else. Who knows?”

“I never knew you were this mysterious.” He laughed.

“Hey Sonic?”

“Yeah, Amy?”

“I wanted to say… Thank you. I really appreciate everything you’re doing for me. To be honest, when I first met you I thought you hated me. That you didn’t want anything to do with me. You were always running away from me. And you thought I was weird and a pain. But you’ve been spending so much time with me lately. It feels like… Like a dream come true.”

“I’m glad you’re happy. I sorry if I made you feel that way… But I never felt that way about you. The reason I acted like that and ran away from you was because-“

Amy gasped. “Whoa!” She pointed at the leaves swirling around in the wind. “It’s so pretty… I wish I had came up here sooner…” She turned to Sonic. “I’m sorry Sonic. You were about to say something.”

Sonic turned slightly red. “Um, forget it. It’s not important.”

Amy looked at him with a puzzled look on her face. “You sure?”

“Yeah. It’s nothing…”

“If you say so…”

Sonic laughed awkwardly. He tried to think of another topic to get her mind off of this one. “Oh I just remembered! There’s something really cool that I wanted to show you. Follow me.”

“Really? What is it?”

“I think it’s better as a surprise… Come on!”

“Fine, be that way…” She whined as she followed him.

They walked throw patches of overgrown green grass that was blowing violently in the wind.

“Wow…” Amy began. “What they say is true. The grass really is greener on the other side… Though it wouldn’t hurt to mow it a little bit.”

“I know, it’s a little thick around here. Kind of slows me down when I’m running. But to be honest, nobody really comes up here except Tails and me. So this place never gets mowed or anything. I mean I’m certainly not going to do it.
“Yeah, I guess you’re not one to stand still… So are we almost there?”

“Uh, yeah! It’s just a little further.”

“Good, because I’m getting tired… And itchy.”

Sonic stopped. “We’re here.”

“Huh? I don’t see anything.” She exclaimed. “It looks the same as everywhere else.”

“That’s because you’re looking in the wrong place.” He pointed in another direction. “Over here.”

She turned around to look to where Sonic was pointing. She gasped in amazement. “Oh my god… It’s gorgeous.”

There were thousands of flowers blooming across the patches of grass. They were all different colors and sizes with different patterns and shapes.

“I discovered it one day while running along. It may not look like it, but these little guys must be pretty strong to withstand these strong winds. Most flowers would be blown out of their roots.”

“Wow. I never even thought of that. You know for a guy, you sure know a lot about flowers.”

“Well, it’s a kind of like a hobby… Hey wait, what do you mean ‘for a guy?’ are you trying to say something?”

“No, nothing! In fact, I think it’s an endearing quality. Haven’t you ever heard that some women like a sensitive man? Besides, there’s nothing wrong with liking flowers. Even if you’re a guy.”

Sonic laughed. “Actually I have heard people say that before. But I figured it was just a load of crap.”

“It is not! I’ll admit, some girls don’t go for the sensitive type. They like a real rough, reckless kind of guy. But some girls, like me, go for sensitive guys. Though I have to say, you’re a little of both.”

“Yeah. I guess you’re right.”

“But sometimes you need to be a little rough and maybe a little reckless.”

“Of course you have to! It’s the only way to live!” He laughed.

Amy giggled along with him. “You really are something, Sonic the hedgehog.”

“Oh. Here.” He turned around to pick one of the daffodils in the field of flowers. He snapped it off its stem and turned to Amy. He gently put it in her hair.

Amy turned red. “T-Thanks Sonic. It’s beautiful.”

He chuckled. “Glad you like it. Like I said, the flowers are strong up here. So it should last a while before it dies.”

“I’m glad you took me to Windy Valley. And showed me this.”

“Don’t mention it. I think there’s something special about this place… Don’t you think?”

“Yeah, I know what you mean… It’s almost like this place is magical…”

“I guess it is kind of magical…”

She smiled warmly. But it quickly faded into a look of concern. “Hey, I just realized something. How are we going to get home? I mean the wind’s blowing too hard upward for us to go back the way we came.”

“Oh right… Guess I didn’t think that one through…”

“Huh? You’re kidding, right? Please tell me you’re kidding. We can’t be stuck here.”

“I thought you liked it here.”

“I do like it here… But I don’t want to spend the rest of my life here. Besides, it’s cold here. Imagine what it will be like at night!”

“Alright, relax. I’ve been through here like a million times. It’s a piece of cake.”

“So how do we go home?”

“Oh right. You have to follow that path.” He pointed to a path with loops and curves that twisted around. “Then we go through a tornado. And-”

“Whoa! Hold it! How am I supposed to go through a loop? I’ll fall! And what do you mean go through a tornado? You’re joking, right? I thought you said it was a piece of cake!”

“It is! If you run at full speed you can go through the loops. And the tornado is really easy to go through- as long as you go to the eye of it. Then, once you get to the eye, you have to go a little further and then you’ll get to the sunniest part of Windy Valley. After that, it’s a few loops and twists and then we’re out!”

“There’s just one thing wrong with that plan.”

“And what’s that?”

“EVERYTHING! I’m not fast enough to go through the loops, I don’t see how we’re going to get to the eye of the tornado, and I don’t think I can go through the twists either!”

“Relax, I’ll carry you through if I have to. It’s not like I haven’t been here before.” He scooped Amy up and starting running at top speed. “Hold on tight!”

She gripped onto Sonic as tight as she could, trying to forget about the cold breeze blowing violently at her. “This won’t take long, will it?”

“Not long at all!”

They went through several loops and twists on the path. And then they came to a spot where the path disappeared. Sonic put Amy down.

“Alright. This part you’re going to have to hold onto me as tight as you can.”

“What are you taking about? We can’t go any further! The path ended!”

“No, it didn’t. We have to jump into the air, and it will carry us to the other side.”

“Are you insane? How do you know it’s not going to-”

“Just trust me, okay? I was right when we jumped into the cavern.”

“You’re right. I’m sorry.” She hugged Sonic tightly as they jumped into the windy path.

The wind blew them left and right. Amy shut her eyes in fear. She shook violently as she clung to Sonic. Finally, they landed onto solid ground. Amy still shook in terror.

“You can open your eyes now.” Sonic calmly spoke, trying to reassure Amy.

She slowly opened her eyes to see solid ground and a path following onward. “We made it?”

“Yep.”

“We made it! We made it!” She yelled gleefully, jumping up and down.

“Didn’t I tell you? I’ve ran on this path a million times… It’s like second nature to me. Now we just have to go a little further, and we’re home.”
“What about the tornado?”

“Oh and we have to go through a tornado.”

“Great…”

He scooped Amy up again and ran through a couple of twists, curves, and loops. He then ran across a bridge as it collapsed behind him. They then arrived at the tornado.

“Alright.” Sonic calmly stated. “Just relax. It’s a little harsh when we first go in, but we’ll be out soon enough. Just hang on tight, okay?”

Amy nodded.

He jumped into the swirling winds and landed up into the eye of the tornado.

They landed onto the shaky ground. Sonic put Amy down once again. “Alright. We’ll be safe now. All we got to do is jump on the debris and hop from piece to piece and then we’ll get to the sunny part of Windy Valley. Just be careful not to fall, okay?”

“I’m a little nervous… But okay.”

“You know, if you want…” He began in his cocky tone. “I’ll carry you the rest of the way. It’s no trouble.”

“O-Okay.”

He picked up Amy once again and started jumping on the debris from piece to piece. They finally arrived at a little cavern that hid a spring.

“Alright we’re almost out!” Sonic assured. “This spring will take us out of here. Just hang on tight, okay?”

She gripped on tight as she closed her eyes. Sonic jumped on the spring and was flung into the air with Amy in his arms. She screamed as reached a higher and higher point.

“Amy?”

The screaming continued.

“Amy?”

The screaming still continued.

“AMY!”

She finally stopped screaming and opened her eyes as she gasped for air. “Huh?”

“We made it.”

They were now in the sunny part of Windy valley. Birds flew in the air and it was extremely bright out.

Amy took a sigh of relief. “So are we done?”

“Just a little further. I promise. It’s just a couple of twists and turns and we’re out. Maybe some loops too. So I’ll have to carry you the whole way.”

Amy blushed. “That’s not a problem for me…”

Sonic smiled, trying to hide his slightly pink face. “So, are you ready?”

“Yeah, I’m ready.” She stated calmly.

“Alright. Here we go!” He exclaimed happily. He sprinted away through several twists and turns, laughing cheerfully along the way.

Even though Amy was a bit frightened, she laughed along too. “I think I’m getting a little dizzy… How do you do this all the time?”

Sonic flashed a smile at her. “Well, I won’t lie… It’s kind of hard. But it takes a little practice. Besides you know me, I’m always up for adventure!”

“I don’t think puking is considered an adventure…”

“Don’t worry,” Sonic laughed. “Just one more loop and then we’re done.”

“You’re sure?”

“Positive.”

As he promised, after they ran through the loop, they were near the clearing of Windy Valley.

Amy took another sigh of relief. “I love this place, but I’m not sure I want to go through this again…”

“Well, as long as you have me with you, you’ll be fine!”

“Yeah, you’re right…”

They went through the clearing of Windy Valley and ended up back in the Mystic Ruins.
“We’re back?” Amy questioned in disbelief.

“Yup.”

“Thank god.”

They boarded the train going to Station Square.

“So that was a fun day, wasn’t it, Amy?” He laughed.

There was a silence.

“Amy?”

She had fallen fast asleep, leaning on Sonic’s shoulder.

He smiled warmly once again. “That ordeal must’ve been a little too much for her…”

When the train arrived at Station Square, Sonic gently picked up Amy and carried her to her apartment. He opened her apartment door with one of the spare keys she gave him. He lowered her down to her bed softly, laughing at the picture of him on the covers. He tucked her in and gave her a peck on the cheek. “See you later, Ames…” He whispered as he shut the door behind him.
