Do you have the diagram on how to build this? I'd love to try and make one.

Sorry, I never figured out how to create instructions for it. If I ever do, I will post them here, though.

Only in my head. I'm still trying to work out how to write down instructions.

I don't know how to explain it besides that making the body is a bit like basket-weaving, you just keep sewing in a spiral. The wings are a sort of modified brick stitch.

I'll try it, but Matsunos are a different shape, so I have no idea whether it will work. Of course I'll post whatever I make.

That beats my beaded dragon hands down! I don't go quite so 3D, and I use pony beads instead (Like the common beaded lizards and all.)
I also do my own designs using graph paper outlines, then lining up the beads to see if the pattern will work.
I would very much like to know more about your style of beading and see if I can't pull that off as well. Amazing!

Your beaded horse is clever. It reminds me a bit of a beanie baby.
Way back when I started, I would sew smaller beads around larger ones to make the 3D animal bodies and heads, then add simple necks, legs, and tails. Later I took the beaded lizard pattern and added two layers to flesh it out. Later, I developed a kind of hollow basket pattern to make the bodies and the hardest part is the necks and heads, especially for the horses and cats. I'm still trying to figure out how to put the basket pattern on paper.
I noticed you like dogs/wolves. People have been asking me for years to make a dog. Any ideas?

Hi! Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you. I get off DA every once in a while and it takes me a while to come back. And thanks about my horse. My original beaded animal patterns actually came from such beanies! I have German shepherds, Siamese cats, leopards, and of course my dragon. The horse I used no pattern except for the one in my head.
Also, thank you so much for your tips and information on how you make your beaded creatures. I'm going to be trying my hand at it and see if I can't figure it all out.
As for making canines, I'm not sure. X3 The German Shepherds I made are not even as 3D as the horse. No ears or anything. I would suggest following the horse pattern you have, but without a mane and the tail being more like the Oryx tail. The ears could also be based off of him. The color choice of beads would depend on the breed of dog you plan on making. I made a Samoyed once, they are simple. All white! ^_^ But I really don't know.
I was wondering, could you put a size reference beside some of your beaded things? They seem so small on the computer and I would like to know how big they really are.

I'll have to find a ruler or common coin (US, British, or Euro), but I can try photographing some of them with it.
Also, once I do find that ruler, I'll try to start mentioning height in all of my descriptions. I'm guessing most are about 1 to 2 inches tall, twice or three times as tall as similar seed bead creations.
The antelope, horses, etc are the size of small keychains and have been used as keychains before. They are a bit large for pendants or earrings.
The dragons are a lot larger, though. I'll get back to you. Till then, my oxcart has a size reference.
Good luck with your creations.

I start with a concept sketch of what I want to make, then look at what I've made before and see if I can modify one of my current patterns to make it. I nearly always can.

Are they pony bead-sized beads? If they are, that's huge.

No, the beads I use I have only seen in southern Africa and I have not found a good equivalent elsewhere, except maybe pearls, which I find too expensive. They are roughly spherical and have a diameter of about .25cm.
I plan someday to redo my patterns for Matsunos, which I love, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
For the dragon, pony beads would probably not work because they are too square, but for my insects they should.

Thank you. I wish I was better at photography. They are easy to pose, but hard to photograph to capture the pose accurately. (This one's head is blurrier than I'd like.)
