Hai I saw that its your first work in interiors things are working up well and good that you did it from your imagination!...but i think correcting certain small things will add more to it like...the left side curtain give more space between the curtain and top ceiling will create more depth there, also give a more good material fro the curtain for the staircase side glass give slots..i mean mostly it wont be a single peace of glass so it would be panels of glass fixed on to some support to form the side rail, also improve the glass material mental ray has i think nice materials for glass...and most importantly try reducing the noise, all this i hope will greatly improve your scene here sure...if you feel happy after making those corrections i will be more happy... well done its a very good start do more!

I would give crits but you have enough there to work with.

Well... several things I could say about this architecturally that aren't gonna work, but thats not the point of the render I believe. I'll talk about the shot itself.
The position of the camera is kind of awkward - the glass railing clashes with the stair treads, and with the reflections/translucency becomes confusing. Try shifting your position in the room so that their is more of a clear offset/overlap/distinction between the treads and railing.
How the beams react with the left wall is also confusing. Not sure whats going on there.
The image of Avatar feels slightly stretched across the tv. Try finding one that fits the aspect ratio. Also, all the seating is arranged pointing toward the tv, thats typically a 'no-no' for a living room.
Try adding some pictures/mural on the right wall - its a big blank canvas... maybe something that draws your eye upward. Also maybe a rug on the floor behind the couch.
Finally, the overall image needs to sit in the renderer a little longer, its a bit noisy. But aside from all that though, its a good first try at an interior perspective and the setting is nice coming straight from your imagination.

youv got your scene looking great! one small advice though would be to put a tiny bit of variety into the swing of those blinds. even as a show room, there just a little bit too straight. you should try experimenting with them being a little bit more natural. I think it could make the scene look allot more realistic. Nice work tho man!
