Wild: When not "working", Venus is a party animal, only without the need for a party. She loves chaos, noise, and she's not afraid to cause it herself - at least, when it's safe to draw attention to her presence. She can't always act like her usual chaotic self out in the open, as several of her disguises involve being timid and weak, so she has to get her energy out around those who actually know her. Venus has been the cause of many a headache due to her apparent need to shout and laugh like nobody's business.

Mischievous: Venus loves to cause problems, and unlike her wild side, she gets most of her mischief out by "working". While most thieves would take a stealthy route to their goal, Venus prefers to cause a distraction and then make a grab for the loot while everyone's looking at the chaos caused. She prefers mostly-harmless schemes to massively dangerous ones - inconveniencing other pokecats rather than physically hurting them. She's not opposed to causing harm, though, she's quite the wicked little thing. She just finds it more fun to cause property damage and mass chaos.

Cunning: Venus's line of work requires quite a bit of scheming, deceiving, and weaseling herself out of tough situations, and she's had a fair bit of practice with all three. Venus is good at thinking of plans on the spot, and she will occasionally go into situations without planning at all until she's right in the middle of them! She's quite skilled at scoping out the area as well, using all her senses to plan an escape route and a way to start chaos right as she gets to a location. That said, she's absolutely terrible at coming up with a plan beforehand, feeling "as blind as a rattata under a mound of dirt". However, she also has skill at deceiving others, though she does use a similar deception each time. Her favorite lie is to pretend to be a helpless young pokecat, covered in dirt and grime, seeking a meal or shelter.

Self-preserving: Venus would never be the first to step up if her group was in danger. Though she wouldn't completely avoid helping, she prefers to evade danger and work in the background, away from the threat. Though not very quick on her feet, she has grown talented at slipping away at a moment's notice. Self-preservation is the name of the game for Venus, and she doesn't care much if someone calls her a coward or selfish for it - she knows it's true, and refuses to change a thing about her personality flaws.

A little background info: Venus got the thieving skill she has from her mother. They grew up with nothing, and growing up, they still had nothing. The old Flygon pokecat that raised her for a time never could scrounge up enough funds for much. Venus's mother tried to teach her to steal and deceive, but the young Trapinch was too loud, too obvious. Her mother couldn't leave her behind at their makeshift home anymore, she was getting too big, their hiding places would be discovered, but she couldn't take Venus with her anymore. So Venus was left to fend for herself. The Trapinch nearly died, but as she lay in the woods, starving and frightened, she began to recall everything her mother had tried to teach her. Be silent, be stealthy. Always lie, always cover your tracks. Never show them your true face. And so she did. The Trapinch forced herself up onto wobbly legs and stumbled back to the marketplace, ready to con the shopkeepers out of their money. This time, even without her mother to guide her, she succeeded.

Many years later, the young Trapinch had only just heard of Team Rocket and was working on one of her greatest heists yet in the hopes of impressing them. Unfortunately for her, she would not be able to pull off the heist, as just when she had tunneled underground to cause a bit of chaos, the earth began to shake. Venus screamed as the tunnel collapsed behind her, her heart pounding... then covered her mouth as she heard a clamor overhead. Someone shouted at another to start digging, there was someone trapped under there. The Trapinch gasped. She would be discovered! Venus whimpered and pressed herself against the dirt that had piled up behind her... then she had a brilliant plan, though simple, it would be easy to pull off. She was still rather short, she looked young enough for it. She threw herself into the loose dirt, poking her little stub of a tail up to make the "rescue" easier.

"We've found them!" Shouted someone from up above, and the dirt was brushed off of her back. "She's alive!" Called the voice again, and Venus was pulled from the earth.

The Trapinch stumbled, making sure not to be too melodramatic, and stared up at the pokecats who rescued her with wide eyes.

"I lost my mama," Venus sobbed. "We were walkin' to market together, and I fell down this here hole! What's goin' on, huh?"

Hours later, Venus stood at the beach, sobbing as yet another group of pokecats left the island. It would be her turn soon, she knew that, but some part of her wasn't sure if she was keeping up her ruse or if she had fallen for it, herself. The evacuation was under way, and pokecats were being directed here and there, though Venus couldn't hear it over her own screams...

"Mama!" The young trapinch shouted, raising her big, heavy head to the sky. "Mama, where are you?"

"Miss, are you okay?"

Venus opened her eyes to see the source of the voice - it was a pokecat, maybe two years older than her. A water-type of some sort, she couldn't make out exactly what he was due to the tears in her big, dark eyes. The Trapinch sobbed loudly, she was still unsure how she had managed to make herself this upset, maybe it was the danger, maybe she really missed her mother. Who knew, but she was going to go with it before she could stop crying.

"Normally I'd say you're a lil' too old to cry for your mama, but given the situation, I ain't judgin'." The water-type pokecat shrugged, surprisingly calm for the situation. "Can I help ya get out of here?"

"Have you seen any Flygons?" Venus couldn't help but ask. "Did they make it out okay?"

"Couldn't tell ya if they have, miss, I haven't seen none. C'mon, let's get you outta here before you get hurt worse, don't cry no more, don't cry, I'll carry you."

And with that, the Trapinch was whisked away from the world she once knew and set out on the sea with this strange pokecat. When they made it to shore, her companion was exhausted, but managed to shove her onto the shore before sinking down into the ocean. Venus, half-starved and soggy, was unable to comprehend what just happened to her companion, nor where she was. Even after recovering from the ordeal, she has never, as of yet, found her mysterious savior. Who knows what she would say to him if she found him? Venus doesn't even know, herself...

Others say she probably just needs some closure. Others say she's already got her closure and never told anyone because it was too horrifying.

The crowd bustled above the pokecat, the various sounds and smells assaulting her senses. She closed her eyes, focusing on her other senses - her sight would do her no good underground. She focused on every sound, analyzing every creature in the croud. One of them would have to be an easy target. Wait. Listen. She had to have patience. Oh, but how boring it was!

A kitten was in the crowd, and from the sound of it, he had been sent to purchase something for his parents. If something were to happen to him... well, it would definitely cause mass mayhem. Just the sort of distraction Venus needed. The Trapinch began burrowing her way to the kitten, muscling her way through the dirt with small but stocky limbs. She wouldn't hurt the kitten, no, of course not. She'd just drop him down into the earth for a while, make his folks worry about him long enough to call the crowd over. If everyone was gathered around a hole in the ground, there was a chance that a couple of the pokecats around her wouldn't care enough to notice a few coins missing from their purses. Maybe she could even come back to "visit" when they were repairing the damage to the ground she had done. She could certainly afford to eat for a week, then.
