Okay, here's my thing. If the animatronics wonder around at night and will kill anyone by stuffing them into suits, then why does Freddy Fazbear Pizza need to hire a night guard? Think about it! The company will save so much money in payroll by not hiring a night guard and have the animatronics act as guards. No one would ever try to break into the place ever again because Freddy and friends would either scare the intruders off or make them disappear. The locals would be too afraid to burglarize that place at night. The police would not be able to prove anything because the police in that town are incompetent as fuck since they could not find the bodies in the suits! For all anyone would know is that the person in question just disappeared in the night.

According to FNAF2, when the animatronics don't hear any noise they think they're in the wrong room, so they go look for where people are -- outside the pizzeria. Now, we know for a fact that all hell'll break loose if they get outside at night, because of the whole "they don't have a proper night mode" thing. In FNAF2, the "buffer noise" that keeps them from thinking they're in the wrong place is the music box. In FNAF1, it may be the sound of your breathing or the rattling fan. Or maybe you're just there as bait. Either way, you're there to keep them inside, not to keep burglars out.
