this is great.
I apologize for coming in too late to help with the naming.

good point on the -wyn.
as to your other point, I fear I have to disagree; my uncle's nickname is drawn from his surname - and yet he's the only person in my family (same surname) who is called by that nickname.
hmm.....perhaps Winnie was given a name by her parents that are a bit higher than she aspires to (like Cwenwyn, queen+woman), so she shortened it herself.

Winnie could be a nickname derived from the -wyn ending. Otherwise, give her a random Anglo-Saxon name? Sheβs lovely as Winnie, anyway.

As for a name...I'll have to think about it.

Well, the obvious choice would beΒ Winifred, given that its an English name, and that Winnie is a diminutive of it, and could therefore be a nickname. IΒ can't think of anything else though, sorry.

I know a good name site you could use. Their listings are pretty comprehensive.

Scandinavian female warrior (though the term's also used in Rohan). I wouldn't call them knights since they're from the Viking Age, and would therefore predate knights. Best known examples are the Valkyries from the Norse sagas.

Rohirric takes its influence from Old English, so try looking there I guess?

Rohan represennnntt. Oh, character sheets make me happy.
I can't help with the name. I'm horrible at that. Have it be something that "Winnie" could be a pet name for.
