Description Gave some thought to Daphne, this week-end but didn't feel like doing a traditional illustration. She was a nymph in Greek mythology that preferred to turn into a tree rather than give herself to Apollo.

This is a really pretty piece. I like how you've portrayed her transformation into a tree.

This work looks like an unusual view on the traditional character, as opposed to the works like the one of Bernini, where Daphne is turning in a tree while running away from Apollo, desperate and scared. Here it looks like she's transforming slowly, in peace with the nature. Not hiding, but making a fully aware choice.

Also the fact that she doesn't have a face seems like an extra addition to the transformation, she's already loosing her human nature becoming a faceless tree.

Nice work.

Thank you very much for the detailed commentΒ  I actually looked at many traditional representations of Daphne and after a while I thought: no, that's not what I want. I wanted to emphasize more that it was her choice and she was OK with it. Plus she was a nymph so she was closer to nature than humanity.
