A matte painting/bg for a theoretical game that we were making concepts for. This was painted over a screen shot of said fake game.EDIT: trying to adjust colour to match what the actual file looks like.

Really like the colours and brushstrokes here, even if the composition is basically "lightboxed". Was the idea behind this project to familiarize yourself with digital techniques by trying to mimic what's already been done? Trying to wrap my head around it.

Okay, so the idea behind all this was that the level layout had been done, and it was our job to take it from a stone block city into a Mayan city. We had the basic forms and we had to embellish and add and repaint everything until it had the look we wanted for it. So I added in the sky, the trees, and all the carvings to the buildings.
