Description

Romance aside, I wanted to focus this time on the fact that these two are highly-competent individuals in their own right, and how that plays into a good working relationship dynamic.

Well, Asami grew up around her father's inventions & thus is a mechanic herself. She's just doing some maintainence.

I love it, the detail of the engine, amazing. It's great Korra and Asami look like young girls, like they're actually 16-18. In the animation they look young, and as far as Korra looks like shes 19-20 when she's 16 in first season, Asami Looks 20-something when she's 17 or 18. I really like their young faces on this work, good job

Hello! Sorry for the very late reply! I wasn't checking my account for a long time! Anyway, I remember this taking me 2 weeks -- two entire weekends plus my afterwork hours on the weekdays. Mostly it was the planning/art direction/posing that took long and I had to redo some initial drawings I wasn't happy with before I proceeded to color and clean it up.

I can now recognize your artwork as soon as I see the thumbnail! This picture is excellent. I love the idea of Asami trying to teach Korra about electronics and machinery. For her sake Korra would try to pay attention but I don't know if she'd be able to follow it all.

Asami : So you see, this is part of the distribution cap. Somewhat similar to the one in my car engine except here, we have to compensate for the air intake considering the altitude. When it gets dirty, sometimes, cleaning it is not enough. You have to... are you understanding this?

When in fact, she doesn't understand diddly-squat and just likes hearing Asami's voice but nonotheless tries to seem interested with what her bae's explaining.

I was also cheking the color composition you did with the plane's motor (and only the motor). It looks like something out of the universe of Enki Bilal.
If you do not know him, Bilal is extremely well known in the sci-fi world and thus gained a worlwide reputation.
I don't like his stories (too gruesome, somewhat dark at times for my taste), but I cannot deny that the man has talent... especially when it comes to detailing motors and mechanics.

I know another possible reason why Korra and asami are the perfect couple and why they so perfectly complement each other.
Korra with her metal bending skills can help Asami to build new engines or machines.
In this way, Korra would perfected her metal bending skills and for Asami this would save time and costs for the construction and testing of new engines and machinery.
I can imagine that Korra would so well perfected her metal bending skills that she would have been able to build a functional engine only on the basis of the blueprint that Asami gave her.
