Description Title stolen from the photo project by Richard Billingham

This is artist Ray Lowry [link] who did lots of the Clash's early artworks and many music cartoons and posters/sleeves etc.
Ray's favourite artist and inspiration is Francis Bacon and so I decided to try and photograph him in a 'Bacon/Lowry' style. This si the result. It is shot like this. No textures or PS....just in camera technique.

This image is what Ray is like as a person - I hadn't met him or talked to him prior to this shoot, but he was very kind and patient.

he was elated - seriously. I think he liked that I thought about how to portray him rather than just take a photo of his face.

Very cool. Andrew some day i'd like to see you try something with strobscopic effect. I think you would be able to pull something really exceptional off.
