Description As you know (maybe) I am always reticent about using textures on my photos because simply, I think I don't do it very well.
This I think works though - well, for me I mean!!
Texture is thanks to wojtar-stock -[link]
The dress is from the Emanuel Archive - [link]

It is from the same time as the 'rincess' Diana dress i.e. mid-eighties. All of her work is so beautiful and exquisitely crafted. It is a real joy to work with but also very nerve wracking because it is worth thousands of pounds for each item.

Thanks to Andrea P.B. for hair and make-up and styling assistance (not forgetting her Mum who worked hard to restore the gown to it's former glory - they have been in storage for decades in clothes bags).

And also to Hannah Carter who is a really lovely model to work with.

Texture works really well combined with the flat lighting and your style of work. Was this a sudden decision during editing to add texture?

Liz Emanuel is really obsessed with textures and such so i have always had in my mind that either she or I would end up doing that to them - I thought I'd better get used to doing it and trying how it works.
If you go to her site [link] then go to her mood-boards, you'll see what I mean.
I just prefer my more subtle approach then letting it get out of hand really.

So in answer to your question, it has always been an intention of sorts.

Cheers,

Andrew

Beautiful - gives it a real vintage feel - like an old sepia toned photograph coloured by hand, like my grandad used to do
