i know the elite and odst are the prominent figures in the picture but i love the looming darkness of the ship in back.

The Robot looks much better and the dirigible looming in the background is a great touch - I wish I'd thought of that! I would still "clear" the silhouette on the legs of the stricken character ... but this is a very niece piece ....

Thanks Kent, I feel the same wat about the character's legs to but it was hard to fix it without completely reworking it. I always say leave what you put down and keep things in mind for the next piece!

Yes, you've got the right idea - learn and go to the next challenge. To me its a default thing I always check - clear and readable silhouettes. That doesn't mean you can't overlap, but clear that silhoueete first, make the negative space interesting (you can direct the eye with it), then explore overlap and interaction. Love that dirigible!

Thanks! This is a concept speed painting- creates the idea and scene. I'm also trying to create the hazey atmosphere, leaving most of the image in basic forms and focusing on rendering one area to draw the eye.
