Steten who wrote the story of the games CE, ODST, Halo 2, and Halo 3 did not join 343i.Β Fortunately, rumor has it he might be returning to Microsoft so maybe the hell they have shoved Halo into can be salvaged.Β If anyone can fix this mess, its him.

Her new design looks good.
But if she was going full blown Dark Lord like she is now, maybe you show how much she has changed, like orange eyes or a more militarized appearance.
Or instead of the aforementioned quote, you can write in Harvey Dent's quote: "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
And if you want to put in a reference, have her do the Ned Stark pose on the throne (which is leaning on some sort of sword, looking grim)

Truthfully, I'm probably not going to do a Cortana piece because I wasn't entirely happy with the game :/Β

Awww, that sucks. It would have been awesome to see your take on her fall (even as convoluted that 343i made it).

She might say it's her... rise?Β
Yea the game is super fun, in terms of gameplay it's near perfect. But story is the most important thing to me and I thought that the structure, pace, character development and overall storytelling was quite poor, in terms of Halo standards (I just watched a round-table talk with the story team and they raved about all the stuff they were excited about doing, and it's all the stuff they actually didn't do). Amen to convoluted!Β

She might say it is, but it would be like Darth Vader trying to delude himself into thinking that the Dark Side can save his loved ones. She thinks that she is doing great good, but somewhere deep down, she knows what she is doing is evil.
I agree that the story was very poor (they could have done so much with the ONI vs Chief route, and instead they did this) and offered a lackluster explanation for Cortana's fall from grace.
However, I am willing to pay you to do something like what I discussed, if you are accepting commissions, that is.

I think it is far more likely that the corrupt, Ur-Didact loyal composed Promethean Warrior-Servant named Eternal Guardian is to blame for Cortana's current version of insanity.Β She was horribly fragmented, somehow wound up in the Domain, and he guided her in "fixing" herself.Β Sure, totally.Β I mean yeah he wants to enforce his own view of the Mantle at best so WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG!?
The same is true for the rest of the Created.Β No way they could stand against a Forerunner AI backed by Cortana's specialization in hacking and Halsey's brilliance she was made to possess.

I definitely think she's aware of what she's doing and she thinks it's what's necessary. I'd imagine it's something like "I have to take control for your own good. It might not work for some of you, but it'll better for all of you" sort of thing.Β
What I really didn't like was that a lot of the story is told outside of the game. You only get the whole picture if you read these specific novels from years ago, read these magazine articles and interviews, listened to these podcasts, played these expansions, etc. It's very inside baseball, even seasoned Halo fans would struggle with the context of certain things I'd imagine. I think it was pretty irresponsible of them to do that when they stated they wanted this game to stand on its own, be it's own story and be an easy jumping on point for new players.Β
I AM open for commissions, you can send me a note and I'll send you a rate!Β

I always found those types to be the worst tyrants. A corrupt politician can usually be saited sometimes. But a true believer? Almost nothing can disuade them from their task, for they already made it up in their minds that they are doing good.
Alright, I'll send you a note here pretty soon.

The worst part is, he was in Cryo-Sleep for several years between Halo 3 and Halo 4. The loss of Johnson, Miranda Keyes and so many fellow soldiers and friends was still fresh to him. Then Cortana was taken from him.

This drawing is amazing but it makes no sense, he is holding her yet she has no solid form, also, howwill he know where to go, the next few games will have players wandering around with nowhere to go and get lost and starve in the planet there on because they have no one to mark a waypoint for them

Isn't this also a reference to the death of Robin in the infamous story arc "Death in the Family"?
And as for the Chief, he has now lost Sam, Johnson, most of his fellow Spartan-II's, Cortana, and countless others. Will we finally see him snap in Halo 5?

I love this Picture so much it says so much about Cortana's and Master Chief's Relationship and I think I agree with one of the other comments this would have made a great ending scene for Halo 4 but the ending we got was still very emotional and heart breaking, So thank you to whoever did this It's a masterpiece in my opinion you captured so much just within a single image ^_^

i saw this and almost burst into tears i agree with you about the ending in my opinionΒ with Cortana dying you finally see chief break down from the strong solider from 1 2 and 3 and the boy who played a brutal game of king of the hill with his fellow spartan trainees the "demon" the covenant came to fear became a broken shell of a man who is now lost trying to figure out what to do next what his next mission is and were his way point is
