However, the trick now was to increase the power because as it stood the beam lacked any real stopping power at the present time.

You would think kryptonite based on natural sunlight (assuming it's from a yellow sun) would have no effect or a beneficial effect on a kryptonian. Then again you got to love synthetics that you can tweak for your on purposes.

That's the key, the manipulation of what you have available. Of course the problem here is that it doesn't work that well, but give those scientists time.

I guess it's like buying a new car. If it's a brand new model you don't buy the first year because the bugs are worked out in the secone model year.
