Description

Imagine a humanoid bug, an insectoid, the last of its kind. Once, quite by accident, it got to Stracsis: the twitching city. There, it became a victim of an attack and was brutally killed.

Since then, a lot of time has passed. Its lifeless body lay for quite a long time in the place where it passed away. Its eyes had sunken inward. The wings under the thick shell fell off, and the internal organs withered. And no one cared about it, well, almost no one.
From all the cracks, gaps, and holes, various kinds of beetles and insects crawled in to feast on the organs of the humanoid beetle, so sweet and tasty. Insects climbed inside and got so fattened up that they could not get out; they got stuck there and stayed to live. Thus, the Swarm was formed.

The Swarm is a hollow chitinous skeleton controlled by various types of insects. It's like a living beehive, only besides bees, there are centipedes, mantises, butterflies, spiders, and many, many other similar living creatures.

When creating it, I was inspired by Dak'kon (Planescape: Torment) and Hollow knight game.

They come with horns, wings, tails, additional limbs, and many other things that are difficult for an average person to imagine, but even compared to them, the Swarm is unique.
One day, a traveling wizard said that the Swarm was the most unique creature he had seen in his entire life, and he had seen a lot. Now the Swarm and other heroes of Stracsis defend the city at the cost of their lives. They protect citizens and prevent various types of evil and danger. Who knows, maybe the Swarm and his companions will one day fall into our reality and our world.

Powers and abilities

Durability

Despite the fact that the chitinous skeleton is very old, it is still quite durable and strong.
The Swarm is capable of enduring all sorts of hits from both physical and magically created weapons and falling from great heights without repercussions.

Strength

The creature is incredibly strong; it is able to lift several hundred tons. This gives it a number of advantages, including being able to handle such a large and heavy sword.
Also, with the help of strong legs, it is able to jump great distances.

Endurance and stamina
Due to its physiology, the Swarm has almost limitless stamina; it never gets tired, does not need sleep, and consumes very little water.

Regeneration
The Swarm's chitin is outdated and has long since lost its ability to regenerate. However, its inhabitants maintain their home in every possible way; they repair and patch it, using their secretions such as webs or wax, and other means like dirt, clay, or dung.

Intelligence
Insects living in chitin have a collective mind, and the more of them, the more intelligent they are.
Basically, their intellect is at the level of an average inhabitant of Stracsis or an earthling.
The Swarm can't talk, but it understands everything perfectly and thinks well.

Resistance

Due to its unique physiology, the Swarm is resistant to telepathy and hypnosis. It is also not affected by most types of diseases, toxins, and poisons.

Control

The creature, or rather, creatures, can communicate telepathically with other insects. They are able to replenish the swarm with a new army, take them under their control, see with other eyes, and feel everything that other insects feel that are several tens of meters away from the Swarm.
In other words, the Swarm is able to control insects. It can attack enemies by unleashing different types of insects on them, for example, highly poisonous killer bees or a swarm of carnivorous flies capable of devouring an enemy in a few seconds. Also, it can launch explosive bugs, control living beings with the help of parasitic insects, revive a corpse using corpse bugs, and much more.

The body of the dead insectoid has long been obsolete, but it still has some abilities.
The Swarm is capable of sticking and crawling on any surface, such as walls and ceilings.
It is able to feel the most insignificant seismic vibrations as soon as it touches any surface. As a result, standing barefoot on the ground, he is able to feel any impact on the surface. For example, how someone walks, crawls, falls, hits, etc. The radius of such the feeling is very large, but it depends on the weight and size of the person who affects the surface itself.

Skills

This is probably the strangest thing about this creature, but how does a huge nest of insects manage to wield a sword so well?

The Swarm is an excellent swordsman and masterful at swordsmanship. Of course, there is a theory that after the death of the insectoid, its soul was divided and possessed every living insect and now controls them, but this is just a theory.

Sword of Mantis
This huge two-handed organic sword was most likely made from the torn off leg of a huge mantis. One way or another, the weapon copes with its task perfectly well. It is incredibly hard and sharp and can chop almost anything. The sword also emits a special poisonous mucus that greatly harms the victims of this weapon. It also attracts some insects.

Weaknesses

Fire and acid
Most of the swarm's inhabitants have an incredible fear of fire and acid. The creatures try to avoid this in every possible way, even despite the fact that the Swarm itself includes several types of acid-producing and fire-breathing beetles.

Stealth
Because swarming and buzzing sounds are constantly emitted from the Swarm, stealth is out of the question.

Obviously, the insectoid used to have wings and was able to fly, but since its wings had long fallen off, it lost this ability.
