Well To Be Fair Although They Roam Freely
In Our Royal Deer Parks They Are Far More
Use To Humans And Tolerant Than Those You Would
Find In The New Forest So It's Not To Hard To Find Them But There Is Still A Limit On
How Close They Will Allow You To Get And Yes They Are wild In That If One
Decides To Come At You You Better Be Ready To Leave Pretty Dam Quick.

But shouldn't he be with his own kind (because the deer in te background are fallow deer, aren't they?). And where did his ear go? XD He's also knock-kneed which makes him look terribly cute and not that dangerous as he should be XD

He Should Be With His Own Kind But The Last Few Times
I Have Visited There Has Been No Sign Of The Red Deer
Hinds So He Seems To Be Protecting These Instead.
I Think That Unfortunately They Have Over Culled The
Red Deer This Year Mainly Because Of The Public's Stupidity
Around These Powerful And Dangerous Creatures.

I Think He Lost That Chunk Of Ear In A Scrap During The Rut.
Some Have Ear Tags And It Looks Like It May Have Had One And Got It Ripped Out.

Knock- Kneed Or Not I'm Not Going To Argue With Him. lol

Loved the description, made me smile.

This is a seriously good portrait of a Stag being vigilant for threats to his harem. Most photography on DA doesn't stop me in my tracks, even the bits I like and fave, but this is truly stunning. I would seriously consider entering this into next year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year under either Animal Portraits or Animals in their environment (I'd probably go for Animal Portraits).

Truly well done mate, one of the best images I've seen in a long time.
