This may be my favorite cover so far... this was the retail incentive cover for issue 8. It's no secret that Luna is my favorite of all the characters, so a completely Luna dedicated cover was a great joy to do. I think if I could do a book of just Luna, Applejack, and Chrysalis... My "dear mother" says this is boring and commonplace. This is the single most best use of color, lighting (do you the border on Nightmare Moon's helmet, shoes and necklace), shadowing, and depth I have ever seen. I say it's my favorite cover (so far since I know you'll top this since you're Mr. Price) as well.

Oh, just the fact of the words you wrote on Nightmare Moon reminded me of the Humunculi from Fullmetal Alchemis (it's an anime tv show). Basically, they represent the seven deadly sins.

Finally happened to chance upon issue 8 of the MLP comic with this variant cover here in Singapore, going for more than double for what the comics usually retail for. Still splurged on it anyway; the artwork means a lot to me.

Retconning Nightmare Moon from Luna's darkside to an alien parasite who struck in a moment of emotional weakness, LESSENED the story for me! It made me able to enjoy it LESS.Β

Nightmares (yes plural) being the dark side of that pony, rather than a parasite, and ultimate being a CORRUPT version of that pony (but ultimately nothing that wasn't already there), rather than being something foreign, is a MAJOR basis for my fanfiction series Pony POV SeriesΒ tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.phpβ¦ And ponies having to ACCEPT that. I even had a comedy with TONS of the most unlikely characters going Nightmare (it was overwhelmingly loved).Β

Well, the sheer size of this fanwork is certainly impressive. I can not promise I will give it a try, though. Discorded Whooves is already testing my tolerance to the dark fanfic genre, and I found myself losing interest in the Silent Ponyville series once it was Celestia's turn to get a sordid backstory.
