Description Kimonos on Sale

You can always find qipao on sale in Shibuya Japan. In the morning, you wear your black business suit with tie. In the evening you wear your qipao. On the weekend, you dress for fun in Harajuku and Shibuya. (I originally had titled this, "Kimono on sale.") Qipao is Manchurian (Manchus are one of China's largest minority groups; historically Northeast China was called Manchuria).

BabakoSen said these are known as "qipao."

ninggutaarsalan said these are Mongolian.

Oh, wow, um...do I say you're welcome or thank you?
Really? These are worn that frequently around Shibuya?

I don't actually know how often they are worn. I was making a deduction.

I would suspect not too frequently outside of cosplay since the qipao is Manchurian (Manchus are one of China's largest minority groups; historically Northeast China was called Manchuria).

A new store opened up in my local mall that sells kimonos and other vintage and recycled clothing. It's really cool!

AndySerrano In reply to SheDevil472 [2011-06-11 18:29:40 +0000 UTC]

Yes, we live in Southern California and there are kimonos here, but nothing beats buying them in Japan. It's a completely different experience

These aren't kimono, these are like Chinese traditional robes.

You're very correct. However, at this point, it's too late to change it.

Is it Japanese style kimono for sure?

AndySerrano In reply to Valka [2009-08-06 12:54:27 +0000 UTC]

I went into several department stores and never found other kimonos that looked like this.

I'm not an expert of traditional Japanese clothes, but these outfits are more Chinese, I think .

Yes. Upon reflection, I would have to agree with you.

Those are neat. I love the woman's kimono and especially the headwear. That is too cool! It almost has an African feel to it (Egyptian...)

AndySerrano In reply to drumgirl [2008-12-12 19:30:35 +0000 UTC]

Yet, we never saw anyone dressed like this!

drumgirl In reply to AndySerrano [2008-12-30 03:03:47 +0000 UTC]

Huh, I guess no one likes those particular styles?

AndySerrano In reply to drumgirl [2008-12-30 19:05:44 +0000 UTC]

I think they're just too too ancient for their tastes

These aren't for sale, they're probably replicas. They look like the Old fashioned Style though
