Description I woke up with a gasp. My heart was beating like a drum. There was cold sweat on my face as I sat up and put my face in my hands. I was panting like crazy. Every year it was like this, a nightmare of a horrible bloody death of a stranger. I looked up at the dark sky and I knew it was time to go. I sat up being very careful not to wake my still sleeping sister. I slipped into a shaggy pair of shorts and a shirt. I weaved through the endless piles of books and parchments. With much luck I made it to the hut’s door. I untangled the vine trap and slipped out into the damp night. The dim sound of chirping crickets echoed through the mist. I sat down feet dangling limply over the edge of the cliff. As I stared into the dim twilight a faint breeze swept through and I knew it was time. The old year had shriveled and died and a new one had just been born.......
