Description I did this for my Dimensional Illustration class. It was my first ever attempt at a dimensional illustration and at paper sculpture.

The assignment was to make a dimensional illustration of your first initial (mine's "C") out of only white materials.

I spend 12 bucks just on hole punchers to make all the little circles for the scales T_T

Just Beautiful. I love how there is two koi fish, that are very detailed and the others not, due to how deep they are in the water.

I am planning to make a koi fish sculpture but small one. but i was wondering how did you make the larger koi fish? The only thing i know, is that you used a hole puncher to make the scales. But i was wondering what sizes were the hole punchers and how did you make the face?

Well, the base of the fish is made out of form-core cut into the shape of the fish's body, then the scales were glued on top and the head piece were glued over that. I don't remember the actual sizes of the hole punches, but the largest one I used was the standard sized punch. Dunno how to describe how I made the heads...I sorts just cut out the shapes, rounded them over the edge of a table and just glued them on.

you poor thing D:
mine looks very minimalist compared to all the little intricacies you used, mainly because I was told to simplify the my image from the finished sketch. *shrug*
but ok I'll go look for the photo I took..

The professor didn't tell me to simplify mine...he just ended up showing me an example of some goldfish made of paper. If he had told me to go with my other idea it would have taken a lot less time.

eh seeing this is a minor assignment I'm not worrying that much over the quality in mine. I'm just happy finally getting a hang of craft in general now, even though the last time I did so in 3D and 2D last year was full of nothing but fail.
oh and I need to take another photo tomorrow, this one ended up being pretty bad as it turns out.

I had to get used to working in paper. I was afraid to try sculpey because last time I tried sculpting something it was horrendous.
I'm terrible at taking photos...that's why I take like 50 of the same thing, just hoping one will turn out good.

I should have used sculpey on this assignment to give more shape to the forms, but eh no time to go before class pretty much. but I utterly fail at sculpture too

lol I should remember your art of automatic fire photo taking then
